I'm going to jump on the bandwagon here, sort of. I'm not predicting anything, just hoping that he'll get to see the field. Who doesn't love seeing an opposing wideout get crushed in the secondary? I know football isn't just about hard hitting, and I'm more than confident that Mangini won't put in a guy simply because he hits hard. So if he does get an opportunity to play it'll be for more reasons besides hammering guys that come his way. Again, no predictions. He may not beat out anyone for a spot on the roster, but I must admit I am rooting for the guy. Good luck kid!
Can someone explain to me, if Leanard Peters is in fact amazing, why all 32 teams chose not to select him with a draft pick? I'm not saying you are all wrong, because I haven't seen him play...but there's a reason he was undrafted.
Just cause he is Hawaiin and wheres 43 doesnt mean he is gonna be Troy Palamulu he has skills and i like him but i gotta see him play first.
I watched some video of Peters and liked what i saw. Yet it was only a highlight film, therefore, every play he looked like superman. Is this guy really good? or are people just making Polamalu comparisons due to his race and physical features?
yeah im sorry but Peters is just becoming the underdog that people want to root for/hype up to make it but the poster who mentioned it coming down to rashad washington and peters for the final spot is most likely more on point with the assesment of the situation. i do think coleman is in danger of losing his spot. i think its gonna be a big preseason battle btwn smith and coleman
I think what people miss that Eric Smith in an incredible athlete. There was an article posted recently about rating players athletically. According to the measurements they use and to my suprise, E. Smith was one of the higest rated athletes coming out of the draft last year.
I am rooting for Peters to make the team and get coached up but saying he is going to be the starter seems a little far fetched. I root for every player the Jets have to be great. I also like Coleman alot, but I think E. Smith is going to be the starter at some point. And Peters will be competing with Maddox and Washington as a backup and special teamer. We all know Mangini will put the 2 best safeties in the starting lineup, My prediction is Rhodes and E. Smith. I do hope Peters makes the team and continues to improve. By the way Highlights reels can make almost anybody look like the next coming of Ronnie Lott or in this case with the hair Polamalu
I can promise you he's not going to compete with Maddox unless: 1) We cut him and he's signed by the team that has Maddox or 2) Maddox is cut and we for some reason resign him.
This sounds exactly right to me. People always seem to forget that there are a limited number of roster spots and that two years into a new coach's regimen he has fewer spots open for long shots. There are only so many spots that are going to go to DBs the other safeties right now are Coleman, Rhodes, Smith, and Washington (thats a pretty strong group). Not to mention that Drew Coleman -- who is primarily a corner -- will probably be given a chance to make the team as a split corner/safety. This kid might make it, but I think expecting him to start is a little wishful thinking.
you guys are so dumb.... 1. Since when does coleman play ss. 2. Rhodes plays ss and why would peters play over him. 3. Peters lacked ncaa speed let alone nfl speed 4. Peters cannot cover for shit forget watching his videos why dont you guys read a lil about him instead of being on his pipe.
I have come to the conclusion that you aren't a teenage kid that is just a little confused about things, you are a troll.
