I think that fact, in and of itself, shows how irrelevant the survey is. I doubt there was much conviction in the vote, and the ambiguity of having BB on both lists, supports that hypothesis rather nicely. Also, the coach of the SUPERBOWL CHAMPION New York Giants is number 1 on the list of coaches players want to play for the least. Enough said.
Theres really people defending Herm Edwards now? Wow. And I'm not sure what the significance of the poll is...Pace and Jenkins don't seem to mind.
Wasn't this list taken from 2007? I think that perceptions may have changed in the last year. Especially with Coughlin for obvious reasons. I think this just goes to show that being a "player's coach" is not necessarily conducive to winning games. You don't need to love your leader to be successful under him, you just need to trust in the plan he has and be willing to execute it to the best of your abilities.
I've always held Pennington in very high regard, but I have to disagree with the statement that the way the Jets handled Pennington was classless. Clearly, they couldn't keep him after they signed Favre. They could have traded him to any number of teams outside the division who needed a QB (Minnesota, KC, etc). But, out of respect for Pennington, they cut him instead of trading him, so it would allow him to go to whichever team he wanted. He happened to choose a division rival. I don't believe Pennington harbors any ill will towards Tannenbaum/Mangini.
While cutting him in and of itself isn't classless, there could be a case made that sending a private jet out to pick him up from the Cleveland game the same day they signed Favre lacked class. I don't know what went on behind closed doors, but to go through the effort of pulling Pennington ASAP just seems odd (and kind of not cool) to me.
What would have been a better option? Leave him in Cleveland to find his own way home? Let him sit on the sideline and yuck it up with Favre and his ex-teammates? I think sending him a private jet was the best way they could have handled it.
I think the best option would have been to let him stay with the team to say his goodbyes, if that was what he wanted. Again, I don't know what goes on behind closed doors (maybe Pennington requested this, or perhaps the FO was afraid that Coles would bitch because of his friendship with Chad) but that's my view of it.
He beat him with "Herms team". Isn't that the way that works? The coach gets credit for wins aty least 4+ Seasons after he left?
Fascinating, because 90% of the personnel on the team are from this regime not the last. So how are "Herms players" still here? Rhodes and Cotchery? I'll give you Baker too for the hell of it. Herm's players are gone because he couldn't draft for shit, that includes Bradway.
Funny Stuff! Just Yesterday, I needed some bathroom reading Material. I Found the 2006 Preview Book (It is Like A Yearbook, they give to ticket Holders). The Only "Herm Holdovers" to today that I can remember are. Coles (Inherit thru trade Original Parcells guy) Dearth Cotchery Nugent Barton Barrett Miller Rhodes Baker Thomas
Wow. Look at all of those Herm Players that Mangini are using to beat up on other teams. I'll give it to this FO/CS - they know how to draft and sign FAs. There is a lot of talent on this team. It would be nice to see someone use it correctly.
Herm's team was Parcells team in it's prime then its decline. Ignore that though. 40 years of failure must go on Mangini's shoulder. That bastard gave us hope and has taken it away by coaching us to a shitty 4-3 record *so far* in the all important 3rd year.
