They threw the ball 38 times and scored 1 TD in the game while they were rushing for 242 yards. Sound familiar? Brett Favre BTW is the polar opposite of Mark Sanchez in terms of experience and he was handicapped by the play calling just as much as Sanchez was. The Jets BTW were in the shot gun on the THREE yard line of Oakland on 2nd and 3. What kind of moron puts his team in the shotgun on the 3 yard line against one of the worst rushing defenses in the league?
Good Posting... I've said it already that the Buffalo Game and that Oakland game have a lot of similarities... Most of the 1st half in that game, Schott had Favre who was still learning the ropes, in an empty backfield getting killed.. I still say that game is where he began to get dinged... Like I said, Year 1 or year 18, either way a QB can get killed with horrible play calling and sometimes needs to be protected. Another game where straight up running it down their throat, forcing them to march the field, wins the game.... But, yeah, people will say hey look at how much yards they ran for, "obviously" we ran enough....
First off there's no comparison between this year and last year . Last year's offense was scrapped as we we're breaking TC - so that we could have the pleasure of watchin Ol grey beard ruin our season. But makin the point that he was still learning the ropes is a humorous one, there was no process to learn ,the offense was dictated by what Favre wanted to run - plain and simple. Plus to complain that he was throwing the ball after everyone want gaga over his 5 TD performance two weeks earlier is contradictory. You want straight up running the ball down their throat - I guess you long for those Herm Edwards offensive snoozefests.
Herm Edwards was not a Game planner... Herm Edwards was a Line-Em-up and try to out motivate the opposition with a great lack of understanding for the game and zero experience as a Coordinator.... I was not a fan of Herm at all..... That said, In Cold Conditions, on a Windy Day, with a Rookie QB - Yeah, I'll take a snooze fest... And last year against the Raiders who had a Horrible Run defense YET, a good pass rush and a real good secondary, Coming out for most of the 1st half in an empty back field whiel Brett Favre got Pounded was STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPID. Go back and look at the that game log and tell me how many times they rushed in the 1st qtr against arguable the worst run D in the NFL at the time.... How many times did they have empty backfield... I don't care if Favre threw for 25 TD the last game... When the Defense can't stop the run you rush it down their throats....
I personally didn't like that gameplan last year either , but like I've said before, last year's offense was in effect run by #4.
