https://www.nydailynews.com/sports/...0201010-fjvl4x7nmza43c5gvemrzx5djy-story.html So much for the rebuilt OLine. Say hello to the new OLine... perhaps worse than the old OLine.. JD? You gotta do better than this for Sam.
Van roten has been dreadful. The interior pressure has been immense. Maybe time to move some parts there specifically VR and maybe Lewis.
Sad state of affairs. We're putting a lot of faith in Douglas to turn this thing around. So far his player personnel results have been mixed at best. I'll give him another season to get this thing going in the right direction but at that point he better start producing and adding more impact pieces. or the clock will be ticking on him too.
Fant and Becton look pretty good, the problem is the interior. Where is mangold when you need him lol. Maybe give the rookie a shot at one of the guard spots. McGovern we are stuck with. Rotten rivals the Kalil signing. I will say would be good to give some time, as they have never played together to have time to gel. But as of now, disappointing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Becton has to stay on the field. Period. Someone that huge & strong shouldn't be so fragile who cares what a freak of nature he is (physically) if he's made of glass? He's not helping the team being on the sideline. Hopefully this is a isolated thing and he becomes a iron man when he gets back.
The OT's have performed. The C has been competent. The OG's have not played well. Then there's the problem that the unit had little time to build cohesion with an abbreviated TC and no preseason.
Realistically, what was available to upgrade either G position? The only real upgrade would have been Thune but he was tagged. I think I letting winters go was a mistake considering we did nothing with the saved space. I wouldn’t flush McGovern just yet, he could be a victim of the play on either side of him. On the bright side both tackle spots are locked up for the next few years at least.
Edoga should try at guard and Clark needs to start when healthy. We know our starters aren’t the answer.
Another terrible Manish article. Not sure why @Cman65 made a thread with it. I like Becton, Fant, Lewis, and McGovern. No doubt the Jets O-line has been bad, but they played some good defenses and did not have an off-season to gel together, so I will give them more time. Obviously Van Roten is the weak link though. He seems terrible and will be replaced in 2021. Maybe sooner........
A huge exaggeration of the facts by Manish. But be that as it may, the interior of the line has been poor, particularly with Van Roten.
Manish capitalizing on the Fan base’s disgust to not only further his witch hunt agenda but to divert the fact that hes no longer apart of the beat. lets not let our feelings toward the franchise cloud the type of parasite Manish is.He has an axe to grind w.o question
"Free-agent addition Greg Van Roten has given up more pressures (15) and hurries (13) than any interior offensive lineman in the league, according to Pro Football Focus." What the difference between a pressure and a hurry, as per these stat people? I'm sincerely curious.
I agree with Cman, the numbers are what they are. The OL interior has not been good... pressure on 40% of your drop backs and 3.2 yards per carry seem pretty similar to last year. lets see how they perform after all the hype this week about the team practices, players asking how they can help.... How about executing your assignments.
