I agree completely, and have repeatedly said that the offense (especially the offensive playcalling) gets a whole lot of the blame. What I don't agree with is that the last Patriots drive is completely excusable only because of the offensive failings.
Right now we have one of the worst offenses in the league. Our defense has clearly underwhelmed and isn't nearly as fierce as our head coach thinks it is, but it's still, rather easily, the stronger of the two units.
Agree 100%. Still doesn't mean the defense is immune to criticism. The fact that it's supposed to be our top unit, and it's supposed to be the bedrock of our team, makes it fair game to criticize them when they let us down. Obviously, the offense is the biggest problem with this team. It's been the biggest problem for several years. But a big-time defense should make a stop on the final drive. And they didn't.
