How many 8 year olds do you know that care deeply about the pledge of allegiance? I'm guessing not too many. Fine, but isn't it a little ridiculous to have a rule that says "YOU MUST EXACTLY AS YOU ARE TOLD WHILE WE SHOW THAT YOU HAVE FREEDOM!"? Wouldn't that contradict your entire point? That's not the point. Personally, if I were at the game, I probably WOULD stay there until it was over. That's my choice. Just like the people who want to go to the bathroom should have that choice. If people think it's disrespectful or whatever, that's THEIR choice. Part of the "freedom" that they're trying to honor includes people having the right to disagree with you. Sometimes it does. I know personally if I'm pitching and my team is up for a long time my shoulder starts to tighten up. Whether this is normal or due to the fact that my shoulder is shredded to bits, I don't know, but it could be a legitimate complaint, especially since at that point you've probably already thrown a good 90 pitches. I also don't have the attitude that a lot of pitchers do about not talking the dugout and such, and staying COMPLETELY focused. I like to stay loose and talk with my teammates, but I can see where guys that are all business would be annoyed with a delay.
Funny thing is, God Bless America is more American than the National Anthem. The music of the Star-Spangled Banner is an old English drinking song. At least GBA is written by an American in America for Americans. ...and I agree with devil on this one-the very idea of forcing someone to celebrate their freedom is farcical.
I don't know who is telling the truth. I just remember that Jeffrey Maier got treated like royalty with free tickets and loads of swag for reaching over the wall and catching Jeter's fly ball. A few years later, someone did the same thing in Yankee Stadium when they were playing the Expos in interleague. It was the Expos catcher who hit it. The guy got thrown out of the stadium immediately. Yankee Stadium is classy.
its about respect. in my opinion your an asshole if you dont stand up and take off your hat. thats the way i was raised.
exactly. but it's so much more fun to believe the side of some drunk douchebag. Of course he is right and the Cops are wrong because it's the Yankees.
It has nothing to do with this one guy, it has to do with the stupid policy of telling people when they are allowed to go to the bathroom.
