Pretty sure if it was as easy as some here seem to want to make it seem, plays like that would be common around the league.
it doesn't have to be a walk-off 80 YD TD, all im saying is to mix it up a little. they're so predictable sometimes. or all the time actually.
I don't think it's quite as simple as that, considering Favre got sacked a couple of times when he went back to pass on first down. The Jets also had fairly decent success running on first down. *shrug*
they got like 1 yd on two or three first downs in OT. that's not very successful. it's not that it's bad to run on 1st down but if the D knows we're going to run they can stop us. the whole world know when we're passing and when we're running and i wish that would change.
And on the first play on OT - a first down - they tried to pass the ball, Favre got sacked, and they lost five yards. Over the next four first downs, they ran the ball four times and gained nine yards. It wasn't flashy, but it got the job done. The runs on first down set up the passes. Of all the things that are possible to criticize after this game, first down play-calling just is not remotely close to the top of my list.
NONE of our LBs can cover and only about half our DBs can. Dropping back into the prevent just doesn't work with this roster.
Stayed up til 5am this morning to watch the game in the UK. Was sitting here thinking oh no not again through the second half, but then Brett and Dustin, just lit the blue touch paper. Their relationship on field for the rest of the year could be very beneficial for the Jets push to the playoffs. I have got a funny feeling that we could push on from this result. Dare I say 13-3!!!!!
