I totally agree that thios defense isn't elite. An eliete defense would have sacked Henne more than, I don't know, NEVER! Instead, he looked like Montana out there.
Enough of these BS treads by Jet fans. We have 4 spectacular defensive games, one bad one and all the whinning starts. Pace should shut the F@#CK up, our defense is nort elite like the steelers, blah blah blah. We had one bad game and I accept it. The defensive game plan sucked, the scouting sucked worse and so did the execution. Period. I can be pretty sure that the next time we meet the Phins that wild cat bullshit will go no where nor will the Dolphins. We need to learn from this and not start the sky is falling BS. Our defense is elite and it will prove it.
Iv been watching the Jets for so long things like this don't surprise me. I couldnt even tell the other night when pressure was being applied and when they were defending the run only. Its was like they were so concerned with the run , that they never sent pressure or the Fish o-line handled us completely. A real bad defensive showing , But the same I'm sure could be said about the Dolphins.
Revis got beat deep when he expected over the top help from the safety. But that's fine show me a corner who's faced A Johnson, Moss, the Saints Wr's and has only gotten torched once. On top of that he plays for a heavily blizting D which leaves him out on an island often . But no worry - I'd take him over any of the Fins burnt toast CB's , and I'm sure you would too .
whats most discouraging about the game isnt that the defense played poorly, but that physically they got man handled. the phins fullback was blowing up harris and scott all night, there gaurds where creating huge holes, and even when we brought the jailhouse blitz, they stoned it. a bad game you can chalk up ot a fluke, being physically dominated not so much
So you throw away the defense's efforts in the first 4 games of the season against Schaub/Johnson, Brady/Moss, Collins/Johnson, and Brees/Colston and slap them a new label based on their last performance, which by the way, happened to be their worst performance of the season so far? Yeah, that makes sense. If the team followed this kinda mentality, I'd be scared. Fucking scared to watch for the rest of the season. I hope Rex Ryan doesn't follow suit in preaching this defeatist attitude to the team. This is the kinda shit that feeds on itself and it produces doubts into everyone minds that they're just average. Some people can't wait to resort back to being the Same Ol' Jets.
don't overreact, guys. i agree you're not elite on D yet. you're an elite pass-rusher short IMO. you're really good though. good enough to contain most teams. we had a very good gameplan. you were concerned with our running game. that lead to less blitzing. if you had a player like James Harrison, who knows what might have happened. he might have sacked Henne on the long TD pass to Ginn.
