It will be tough to get a deal done quickly when they aren't even talking yet. The owners won't accept any deal that doesn't include a slotted rookie pool and that is just for starters. They also won't allow the current 63% of revenue to continue going to players either. They will probably demand it go back to 54% where it was before '06. Tough negotiations coming up.
I wouldn't be too surprised if we start hearing strike talks for 2010. There's a lot of contracts out there that are not being taken care of, and a lot of unhappy players. There will be a lot of young stars are going to get screwed out of a lot of money if the uncapped year happens. I'm not saying a strike is actually going to happen, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear it batted around a lot, especially by the younger players.
at some point i believe the owners will just have to realize they will make more money in the long run by actually allowing the sport to exist rather than allow it to fall into lockout....
That's funny how people say that then turn around and say Thomas Jones is greedy. So it's only BIB when it's the team is screwing the player not when the Player does it to the franchise? So it's ok for a team to Cut a player when It's time to pay the Bulk of the contract but Not ok for a player to ask for a reneg. after getting the bulk of the money and putting up monster #'s? *FTR, this isn't reflected @ you. I don;t know your stance on TJ..
