    Patrick Kerney will void his contract Tuesday after failing to reach a contract agreement with Atlanta over the weekend.
    With Charles Grant and Dwight Freeney off the market, Kerney is probably the top defensive end available and should get a big payday.

    The Colts have placed the franchise tag on Dwight Freeney.
    The expected move should keep Freeney a Colt for at least one more season. Since the team is snug to the salary cap, they should aggresively try to sign Freeney long-term to help lower his 2007 cap number. Coming off a down year, Freeney may be easier to sign. If he signs the one-year tender, it will be for $8.644 million.

    Manning redid his contract:

    INDIANAPOLIS -- Peyton Manning has agreed to restructure his contract with the Indianapolis Colts to save the team nearly $8 million in salary cap space.

    The Super Bowl MVP was to receive a $10 million roster bonus during the offseason but by converting the money into a regular signing bonus, the Colts can prorate that amount over the remaining four years of his deal. That saves Indianapolis space under the cap, which is $109 million.
