He's Gordie Howe strong. You just cannot bring him down one on one unless you somehow catch him going right into you or stationary and he's never stationary so that basically limits it to if he runs right at you early in the play because he doesn't see you. There is no way the Steelers would have kept him after his off-field travails if they thought they could replace him. They know they can't.
I see three points here. First off in 4 seasons, the Jets haven't had Darrelle Revis in a total of 2 games. On the contrary the Steelers have been without Polamalu a significant portion of time. The whole Jets d is geared around Revis, the Steelers have survived before without him. Second, Ryan called a bunch of good blitzes, and if Roethlisberger was the Jets qb and Steeler fans would be saying the same things about Lebeau. Ryan dialed up the right defensive calls, the d just couldn't tackle. Third Lebeau only worries about the defense. He is the equivalent of Mike Pettine. If Rex had all the time available to spend on the defense then you could compare the two.
If players would start hitting waistline and wrapping up the knees we would be more solid ... Instead players going for big time hits and trying to make shoulder tackles won't cut it. Get back to basics
Here's the way it is. We did not grab high priced FAs to transform the Jets over night. We didn't get Peyton to transform the Offense. We didn't drop $100,000,000 ($100M) on Mario Williams to transform the defense over night. Nope. Tanny took the advice of every poster here and decided to build us up through the draft. Coples? Hill? Davis? All good players, who are ROOKIES playing in their first few games of their careers. All have huge upside, and with great coaching and game experience will help transform the Jets over time. We're essentially the same team as last year with the addition of some great potential. If you want us to be like the great franchises who build their dynasty through the draft, then you have to be at least a little patient. Enjoy the improvement of our young rookies. If you want to get better by leaps and bounds in just one off season, then don't bitch when Tanny kicks Pennington to the curb for a one year rental. Otherwise, sit tight and enjoy the ride.
