No, how soon it takes is entirely up to the front office and coaching squads skills. But in three drafts we'll know enough to marry them or not. At this point in time were a 9 win team give or take. In three years time if we've regressed, we need to take a hard look as to why,and if its because of the coaching staff or the management, and not something like our veterans falling off before we've had replacements drafted or brought in, well then.
If we contend in Playoffs we may be closer than we think Mac has done more in a few months what 2 preceding GMs couldnt In short, better management doing the work
The draft is dynamic. It's all relative to perceived value. Can't pigeon hole yourself into a certain position in a certain round.
it'll take that long to build a sustainable winning team certainly. Our vets have us in playoff contention these next 2-3 years, but if we cant replace at least SOME of their impact we're hurdling towards a cliff. This years draft is a good start, the next two should focus on repairing the O-line, LB corps, and maybe even finding some young blue chip corners. and oh yeah, maybe a QB… A long term problem needs a long term solution. Macs done a good job of filling the gaps, now comes the hard part...
DL is fine, but CB… how confident are you in Williams, Skrine, Milliner and McDougle? its not a top shelf need, far from it, but thats a position that takes time to adjust to, maybe investing in a CB come 2017 is advisable. As is if I'm left with the 5th best OT, 4th best OLB, 4th best QB, 3rd best WR but THE best Corner on the board is left… well...
Since I don't expect that Cro to be here next year I'll just mention that you left out Revis and Walls. That's 6 serviceable CB's, 6. With that sort of depth you've really got to look elsewhere for problems that need fixing. This is the NFL, not fantasy.
I'm thinking LONG term, like 4-5 years ahead where maybe Revis isn't Revis anymore. whats our youth at CB look like? who can replace Revis and Cro as starters in time? Williams, sure. who else? we're definitely good in the short term at CB, denying that.
People just love going after Brick, they have for years. The guy is blocking elite pass rushers each week and while he's not the shutdown blindside protector he was early in his career he still is one of the better pass blocking LT's in the game. We always have this "the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence". A lot of teams would kill to have a guy like Brick. Is he slowing down? Yes. Is he still above average? No doubt. I think the scheme is more of an issue than the guys up front. Outside of Winters they're all above average at the very least.
WR's need to get open faster. Fitz was getting the ball out quick due to quick routes and mismatches we created vs our opponents. Our o-line is becoming weaker and weaker in pass protection each week so it's important we get back to quick developing plays. Seriously it's hard to watch Fitz dance around and throw up a prayer for a total of 35 yards down field lol. Quigly fucking sucks im glad our defense doesnt allow people to take advantage of the good field position they get. New punter please. Tackling tackling tackling. Please wrap up. Not everybody is pryor. Skrine started off so solid but is now vulnerable to missed tackles and occasionaly getting beat deep it's starting to bother me. DD lost playtime for it so well played by TB. Marcus Williams is a little guy and he's probably our 2nd best corner so he gets a slight pass from me at missing tackles.. just never put him at safety again! Gilchrist also whiffed tackles occasionly as of recent. just wrap up man. D'Brickashaw and Giacomini man... get the fuck out of here. Making our offense look like shit.
Skrine and Marcus Williams can be our outside guys.. hopefully Dee milliner can prove his worth. I think that can be done by just staying healthy.
