I'm fine with 3. But I don't want to see any major regression. Moves have been made that have improved us since they've come, I want to see more of it. Better and better bit by bit. If we can still battle for 10-6 or higher in three years without looking like fools, I'd say we've found our me. If we're struggling by then its time to move on. As long as we're competitive and not a garbage fire.
Heck, if we discover our much coveted QB, I'll even give him five. Look at Carolina now....that's what I would wish the Jets to be in four, five years max.
As I have urged all season, the jets in the 2016 draft need a repeat of 2006 when they went OL with their first two draft picks--the current OL is old and not very good.
I think we run to the right more often because Ivory prefers to run to the right. He is noticeably more explosive when he's able to bounce to the hole, plant that right foot in the ground and burst upfield.
He may prefer that, but the Jets have been running to the right more than the left since Brick became our LT. He's not a good run blocker. Never has been. Never will be.
Tom, I think you can probably forget that. That's not Mac's philosophy. Besides, I would submit that a topflight pass-rushing OLB is a higher priority than a RT or RG, and maybe even LT.
I thought Breno was a "spy" since all he ever seems to do is watch what's going on. Brick does seem to be getting beat more than he used to, and Brian Winters just sucks. I love Willie Colon but he gets hurt way too much now. I think we may need to take 2 in this draft.
Yeah, like I said, I wouldn't be opposed to drafting 2 lineman in the first 2 rounds of this upcoming draft. We have the skill players on Offense to succeed and prior regimes have invested enough in the defense. They need to focus on the O-Line. A strong O-Line will help in the development of a QB as well.
Any OL where Brian Winters is starting going to need some major turnover. But, this team has so many holes... it's going to take more than one draft to fill them. Plus, what great OL are available in the draft??
It's a good idea to draft a tackle to compete against our starters because Brick is getting old and Breno is, at worst, a JAG but not because we are getting killed at either spot. That said I like the idea of getting a guy with the versatility to play on either side.
I think we need more than just a guy who can compete. Brick has never been a very good run blocker and his pass blocking is getting worse, not better or even staying steady. He might would work passably for one more season, but that's it, and with his huge cap number for next season, he may not be here at all. Breno is a JAG and we need much better. I believe that most of the penalties the OL has received this year have been Breno. He's ok as a backup and spot starter, but if we're serious about competing for the Lombardi Trophy, imo he needs to be replaced in the starting lineup.
The way I see it now: 1. Secondaries - I really don't think Jets need any immediate relief here. Marcus Williams/Darrin Walls/Marcus Gilchrist/Calvin Pryor/Buster Skrine/Rontez Miles look mighty fine for the foreseeable future. 2. LBs. - Immediate relief is imperative. Jets need that blue chip rusher at OLB, and maybe someone better at ILB. LoZo is an encouraging presence, but he is a concussion away from retirement, and moreover, one good OLB doesn't make good LB corps. 3. DLs - 'Nuff said 4. OL: Jets have enough bodies invested in OL - just, we don't know how good they are. Jets should start thinking about exit strategy involving Brick and Mangold too, so investing low draft picks here won't hurt. 5. WRs: Jets need to find someone else in the mold of BMarsh. And such talent can be had at 4th round. [Martavius Bryant of last year, for instance.] 6. RBs: I think Jets actually need to invest here. Jets need a bell cow - that is DURABLE. 7. TEs - Hopefully someone to pair up with Amaro. 8. QB - Oh yeah. I'm willing to see what Petty has to offer, but if possible, Jets should invest in QBs too. If I could have it my way, it would go in these order: Rd 1: QB Rd 2: OLB Rd 3: RB Rd 4: WR Rd 5: OT Rd 6: C Rd 7: Whatever. Or Rd 1: OLB Rd 2: OT Rd 3: WR Rd 4: C Rd 5: RB Rd 6/7: Whatever
I think I'd be cool with BPA as long as it isnt DL. OL needs help Linebackers needs help (MLB and OLB) I'd be cool with RB/WR/TE/CB being addressed early on if need be. In an ideal world, the way BPA would fall IMO is: 1. OL 2. OLB (until I see a bit more from Mauldin) 3. MLB 4. RB 5. WR/CB
Fumbles has to be #1. better this week but still a season long trend. agree with penalties and drops. id also add awareness in general. onfiled IQ seems to be lacking big time. CS needs to step it the fuck up
Ferguson is a concern of mine, but in fairness to Brad's point, I would have a hard time making the case that he is worse than average. We're just used to better play from him. But he is in notable decline, and his contract next year is a problem. I don't know if there's much prospect for redoing his K, since he's not elite anymore. Maybe the way to go is high draft pick at LT.
