    I agree.

It would also keep football in the headlines.

Let's be honest, I like baseball, but this hot stove bullshit sucks,

If FA was last, then it's a 50-50 gamble if the GM can get such and such a player, which may leave holes unfilled going into training camp.

Having the draft last is a good idea b/c it leaves filling the holes up to the GM to draft whomever he feels like drafting....nothing left to chance, as least as far as getting the player you want.

Edit: I think having the draft last keeps player salaries down too. Say FA was last, and 3 teams decided not to draft a QB b/c Payton Manning was a FA. Peyton would have all 3 teams over a barrel, and the winning team would end up paying him double, and the other 2 teams would be screwed.

The way it is now, one team would win the Payton sweepstakes and the other 2 could still draft a QB.

So ya, keep it the way it is.

I don't like this idea at all. It is bad because teams will get screwed and will have to gamble on which positions to fill via the draft, when they have free agents they plan to target, but none are guaranteed. With free agency starting first, you can target the players you want, and if you get outbid by another team or can't land them, you can draft that position. Otherwise you have teams drafting positions they might not need, or not drafting a position they need and then failing to land a decent free agent, screwing the team. Having FA start before the draft makes perfect sense, especially in football where you have a 52 man roster. This isn't basketball or hockey where you have 15-20 players on the team at most. Filling holes is much more difficult.
