We didnt make the playoffs the last 4 years because we had bottom 10 talent and a bottom 3 QB. hard to really make the playoffs when the division is out of the question with the pats winning 12 or 14 games a year and having Sanchez/Geno under center. what kind of high powered offense do you expect with a bottom 3 QB, bottom 5 WR, an average offensive line and no game breakers in the back field? it is a miracle we werent worse then we were. if anything rex had user overachieving in a major way. what coach was going to come in here and make this offense work?
Too many people are pointing out rex's shortcomings(of which there are a bunch) but refuse to acknowledge his strong points, which FAR outshine that. but it will become apperant... guys like sheldon richardson start becoming a major problem when they dont play for a players coach they like the defense starts looking like the worst in the league isntead of the best when guys dont play their hearts out and dont overcome the leagues worst back 7 2 back to back AFC titles games with bottom 10 talent is an insane feat. not being able to replicate it isnt on rex.
Overall, the Jets did not have bottom 10 talent the years they went to the AFC Championships. Yea QB was a weakpoint, but they were solid everywhere else. Bottom 10 talent in 09' and 10' is an extreme exaggeration.
Extreme Extreme exaggeration? Try ludicrous or mind numbing. We likely had Top 10 talent in those years, we were very solid EVERYWHERE.
Yea those really were some of the best teams in the franchises history. We had good depth everywhere and not a real weak point anywhere except at QB.Its amazing to me how we weren't able to build off that success its mind blowing where we are now. What a poorly handled roster by management
Going to get blasted for that, we sure weren't anywhre near the most talented team, especially 2009, but when we could do the things that matched his football philosophy like shutdown WR's and run the ball down your throat we were very effective. I do agree his shortcomings are too exaggerated and his strengths weren't appreciated enough. Opposing HC's knew he was a nightmare to prepare for. His unpredictable blitzing drove QB's crazy. His defenses ranked 1st, 3rd, 5th, 8th, 11th and 6th in total yards allowed. If we pretended he wasn't the HC here for the past 6 years and say he was on another team with the same exact resume and scenario with imploding roster he'd no doubt be on everyone's short list of HC candidates if not most of our top candidate for the job.
Pretty much everything I've posted in this thread has come to fruition and will come to fruition. later bitchezz
No, because he isn't hiring an entirely new scouting dept. yet. He's making some changes, and that's great, but I haven't seen a single scout fired yet..
Bump it all you want the regional scouts haven't been fired yet unless I haven't seen the news about it?
I'd love to hear what his strong points are, because he does not haverify any. We had TOP 15 talent in 2009, and Top 10 in 2010, saying we had bottom 10 is not factual and just ridiculous. Rex is a terrible bottom of the barrel HC and mediocre DC
When you fire your director of college scouting and director of scouting, you will ultimately have an entirely new scouting department.
Undoubtedly, and that's a great thing, but the issue was whether or not there would be an entirely new scouting dept. before this year's draft, n'est ce pas?
I'm not feeling this comment. Rex wasn't the best HC but he was far from the worst. As a DC, I think he was upper echelon.
