They won a few games by scoring more in the second half but not because of adjustments. I'm still not a buyer that Bowles made half time adjustments. They won 3 games in 2015 after being down at the half: 1) against the Redskins in week 1 where the leading rusher for the skins had 21 yds total for the game, 2) against the Giants who they shut out in the 2nd half. One of the Giants 1st half scores was on a punt return for a TD and the other on a 72 yd pass to Beckham and that was pretty much all the Giants did on offense in that game and 3) against the Cowboys who were starting Kellen Moore at QB. Bowles looked like a deer in the headlights coaching in the Raiders game, both Bills game, and the Texans game. I'll give him credit for playing the Patriots tough but aside from their 1 win against the Pats I don't think there was another game where they led at the half that they weren't expected to win.
I honestly don't remember him making any adjustments that helped the team. We lucked into a very weak schedule, the D was opportunistic and the offense looked much better than it was. The coaching was terrible .
If any more Patriot players refuse the invitation to the White House I may have to change my opinion about this awful team. If Brady or Belichek stay home I don't know what to think.
NE trades back every chance they get, they also let FAs walk so they have the extra compensatory pick plus the stockpile of picks from trading down. It's easier to hit on 3-4 players when you're drafting 11-12 players then when you only have 5 -6 picks which seems like Mac's MO
I both agree and disagree with this post. I disagree that Idzik should have traded up. The Jets had a ton of holes and little depth due to all of Tanny's trading up over the years and missing on other picks. With 14 picks, he had a golden opportunity to not only get the Jets some great players who could help the team for the next 5-10 years, he had a chance to fix a lot of the depth and STs units. If he had traded up, chances are he would have taken the wrong player, and we'd just have yet another high-profile bust to lament. The part that I wholeheartedly agree with is that Idzik should never have been hired. He was a middle manager, an administrator, and had little background in scouting and personnel. That was what the team desperately needed after having an accountant and attorney as the GM. Only that dumbass Woody would hire someone who didn't have a strong background in scouting and personnel. There were a LOT of topflight GM candidates that year, and because Woody insisted upon the new GM keeping Rex, the better candidates told Woody to piss off (and who can blame them?).
one of his many problems is he is too loyal to over the hill vets. If bowles had his way he would bring back AND PLAY fitz, revis, breno, and anyone else on the north side of 30. I REALLY hope the plan is NOT to move revis to safety. He couldn't/ wouldn"t tackle a practice dummy for fear of being injured. But, hey, he was only getting some $18M a year.
Context. Parcells was talking about teams...not individuals and certainly not head coaches. It also undermines what sports is all about. The underdog who defeats the supposed better team. If I never read that quote again it'll be too soon. Tell it to the 10-6 Giants when they faced and beat the perfect 16-0 Patriots in SB XLII... or the 10-6 49'ers when they beat the 12-4 Bengals in SB XXIII.
