Let's see if the rooks can do it year 2. Keep in mind that both Mangini and Herm made it to the playoffs their first years, and Groh almost did. With a retread you KNOW what you are getting in a head coach. None of aforementioned former Jets head coaches have been able to call games effectively, and Shanahan is one of the best game callers. We need someone like that.
If it's not true then somebody will come out and deny it just like they did on that ESPN garbage yesterday. Until they do you have to believe it is the truth.
Here's what's going to happen. The Jets will spend another 3 years on a rookie only to think he's not good enough and then go out and get a quality coach. They will be poised for a SB appearance and then the fucking Mayan calendar will expire and the world will end. What else would be more fitting of an end to this steaming pile of petroleum based bullshit?
Yeap, I can't believe I'm agreeing with Don, but it's true. Woody and his retard crew have already proven that they have no idea how to choose a coaching candidate and put them in a position to succeed. Getting someone who can surround themselves with talent and do the job for him is the only way. But I doubt it happens.
Got to disagree with that, it's always my opinion that the organization has to prove it's the truth (In this instance the Post), if every professional sports personality had to come out and denie all rumors that were written about them they would have very little time for anything else.
I understand everybody's frustration on the board.....but seriouisly....you had to know Woody would fuck this up somehow...or at least be prepared for it. I'm trying to stay positive.....it's not like there's no decent potential out there for HC candidates. If somebody like Callahan gets the job....then i'll support the mass suicide....but we're not there yet, guys. And lets hope it doesn't get to that point.
Right now the Jets FO is at geneology.com looking at BB's family tree to find another coaching candidate.
I find it hard to believe that the Jets would fire one HC without having a handshake agreement with another. Could a billionaire owner be that stupid ?
No, I think that experiment is over. We've tried to copy Dungy and the Bucs... FAIL We've tried to copy Belichick and the Pats... FAIL Let's see... who could we try and fail to copy next... HEY! Let's hire the janitor from Heinz Field!
Normally, that is true but in this case the public perception on everything the Jets are doing now is crucial. They can't allow anything that can hurt them to go unchallenged if it's not true. I mean would you be standing in line to buy a PSL with what is going on now?
We don't have a plan because we didn't hire one of many candidates 24 hours after Mangini was fired. That's the logic of these people.
We don't have a plan because their number one choice said go fuck yourselves. Just like a lawyer never asks a question he doesn't know the answer to, you never approach your number one without being willing and able to satisfy whatever he wants.
Sorry ,But I have been in management for over 25 years. When it is time to fire someone you move on ,no regrets and you usually do not have a replacement lined up. Usally the offense demands action immediately - as did Mangina's completely losing this team. Their might be a history leading up to it by when the fianl straw comes it is time to act. The only time in Jet history that they announced thier new head coach upon firing thier old on was RICH KOTITE -- I remember the sad day well driving home from a funeral in NJ in disbelief. In order to have your shot at the best candidates - you cannot sit back and wait on decisions like this. The Jets made the right move , no matter what happens , that fat retard Mangini doesn't even belong being an NFL coach.
Woody fired Manigini 8 hours after the game ended. His Plan A was Cowher. He made an impulsive decision with no plan of attack to replace Eric. It was "Get Cowher" and nothing else. I hate to keep saying, but as long as Woody is owner, the team will be a failure......
I say this with a lot of love fellow Jets fans......please relax, let's see what they do and then we can go crazy if they screw up, right now we are putting the cart before the horse.....
So what this tells us is that Cowher is a rational coach who does not want his fate tied to a 40 year old QB. We need to face the fact that Favre was brought in for his entertainment value, not his ability to lead us to a super bowl at this late stage in his career. If he's healthy and comes back next year he'll probably be very entertaining but he's not going to take us to a super bowl.
I've gotta ask you. Have you EVER made an important buainess decision without taking into account what if things don't go according to plan? Have you seen this FO ever have a Plan B in place? Doesn't it always seem as if they're one step behind?
Guys, do you have ANY evidence to back up your plan a's or plan b's other than your NY Jets fan gut. Did Woody ever said "we're only looking for Cowher"?
