Who are you, James Dolan? Just for reference, James Dolan is taking a beating in the media today for being the owner of a team and responding to a fan with almost exactly what you just said to me. Let that sink in for a second. An owner of something said what you just said to a fan and is taking a beating for being a terrible owner. Seems like you just proved my point.
I liked your first post in this thread, but disagree with this one. It wasn't just because he didn't completely turn the team around in 2 years, it was because of his failures in FA and the draft. There was little reason for hope to expect him to turn things around if we'd given him 20 years. He even alienated a bunch of people in the FO. He was too slow and methodical. One has to be able to think on one's feet and move swiftly at times and Idzik couldn't. He deserved to be fired and I'm glad he was. I applaud the folks that put up the website, billboards, and had the plane fly over with the banner. Who knows? If they hadn't, with our idiot owner, we could still be stuck with Rex and Idzik.
I agree with you to an extent, but only an extent. Idzik did not cost the CS their jobs. They did that perfectly well on their own with not developing young players, with not having them prepared to play for games, by not having them play smart, penalty-free football, and by being slow or incapable of making adjustments. The whole lot of them suck balls and I'm glad they're gone.
I disagree. I think that some of you are making too big a deal out of both Idzik's firing and the impact the billboard and website had. Any GM and scouting dept. faces pressure with their picks. It's not just with the Jets that drafted prospects are expected to see the field sooner rather than later. Yes, there's more pressure with the Jets because of the sorry track record of the scouting dept over the history of the franchise, through multiple GMs. Bradway was kept for (way too long) 10 years. The NFL in general is more of a win-now league. Some Jets fans are too impatient and some are morons undoubtedly, but imo the FO and CS all deserved to go. Woody had been too patient with all but Idik, and he was just a bad hire to begin with. You don't fix a bad hire by giving the person more time to screw up things even more. You admit you made a mistake, cut your losses and move on.
I disagree. Batting .400 may put you in the HOF in baseball, but it won't in football. Even if he winds up with 3 quality starters out of that draft, he passed up some potential superstars, a couple of potential franchise QBs, and may wind up with little or nothing to show out of his other 9 picks and FA. He also publicly supported the CS last off season rather than saying that Rex should go. Idzik was a bad hire. Period.
IMO the only "piss-poor" fans are the ones who sit back, gripe on Jets boards and otherwise, do nothing. They are content to settle for mediocrity. I applaud the people that campaigned for Idzik's ouster. They should be commended rather than condemned.
Anybody who still argues that idzik should not have been fired should trade in their Jets jersey for a straight jacket.
Were you there? That sounds like Winston's excuse, but how do you know it's true? Even if it is true, it was still "stealing" and wrong. He should have had enough character and maturity to know that it wasn't right. You're just making excuses for him.
Yes I was there. Not at Publix but I was in Tally at the time. And I know the kid who gave him the crab legs. Outside of Tallahassee, he stole them. The real story is known there. Like I said, the media spins it to whichever way they want
And I'm not making excuses. I clearly said it was wrong and he's a dumbass for it. I just said that the real story is very different than what's being portrayed. Again, you didn't read my responses. I have never defended him for it. I have always said he's a moron for believing him
There's no doubt that the media spins things and can make or break people. I'm not disputing that at all. If that was the only incident surrounding Winston, I'd have no problems dismissing it, but with his having a whole slew of them and with FSU having a history of covering up those kinds of things, it makes it a very different situation.
I probably did read your responses, just didn't remember who said them. After all, that was in another thread and has been some time ago. I was just responding to your post in THIS thread. I'm glad that you didn't defend him. I was just trying to get at the truth of the matter. Thanks.
Oh please. What other incidents? The "rape" incident where the girl was seen to be on top of him having Sex. The same girl that had 3 or 4 guys semen in her underwear? Or the completely bullshit claim of shaving points? The only issue he has is immaturity. Which is all solved under proper guidance and him growing up.
We'll agree to disagree with him. We can have this argument until we are blue in the face, but there is an entire other thread about it. I like Winston. A lot. And I think his off field issues are nothing when viewing him as a player and a person. Immaturity. Stuff we have all done at his age. I think he is going to be very good and his off field issues will not be a concern at all. The kid just wants to win and he plays his heart out for his team. Things are gonna change with his immaturity once he's in an NFL locker room.
After watching the film "Draft Day" I suggest Woody can his recent hire GM & hire instead Kevin Costner to be our GM
