As Winston said He is our best QB at the moment. Some of you guys must be using your cocks as brains. Its not just about arm strength , zip etc... Pennington is outstanding (Second to Manning) at reading D line ups and making adjustments . (Mind you to immediatley contradict myself , how on earth did he not see Urlacher (sp) shadowing him in the EZ????) Throwing a rookie into the fray would achieve what? Clemens needs to be brought on and learn the fundamentals. I hope he would have watched CP yesterday and seen his errors , because believe me Clemens is going to throw a boat load of INTs when he does get his chance, at first. Brad Smith at QB , er no.
And after all the euphoria of last week, let us not forget that in a crucial point of the game, Chad put the ball up for grabs with a terrible decision., only to have Cotchery bail his butt out with an outrageous catch. I really believe that the coaching staff is aware of his limitations, and of this new found tendency of his for dumb throws, something he has never been known for in the past. They just are not ready to put Clemens in there when the team has a shot. That will hurt them next year. They will have to make the decision at season's end that they must upgrade at QB. Not only is Chad's inability(or unwillingness) to get the ball downfield limiting our passing game---it is killing the running game.
heh mabey we can sign brett farve.... But seriously, does anyone think we may have been in a better qb situation with bollinger instead of ramsey. I really was a fan i mean the guy still could play decent with that horrendous offensive line. He was the only qb last year to get over 300 passing yards against miami
We'll never know now unless Brooksie does well elsewhere. You are right though , most QBs would have struggled behind that line , and he did OK. I never realised how well he could scramble , albeit for his life
And it will probably stay that way until Clemens gets some real action in a situation that matters. It's interesting that the CP lovers can't really say to much right now to back him up. Even they know he's not playing well. The argument has turned to "he gives us the best chance to win". Not that he's a great QB, thread the needle accurate, that he makes great reads....not anymore....just that he give's us the best chance to win. If given a shot, Clemens could give us the best chance to win next year. He needs some experience in game situations though. On the flip side, he really might not be the answer at all. We might have a Chad Jr. that just sticks around untill the starter breaks down and then inherits the job. I have to believe that Mangini has a 3-5 year plan though, and that plan involves CP being the starter right now. Strange as it may seem having a team in the playoff hunt and all, I'm already excited for next year.
