At the end of last season i was pissed with Tanny and the front office but i will go on record as saying this and i hope i does not come back and bite me on the ass but i think they have played a blinder this off-season and really don't know what more they could of done. As a fan my opinion of what i wanted the jets to do in priority order as follows. 1- Pass rush= Solid pick in Coples with a lot of upside looks like he has talent not a one trick pony with lots of uses. 2- Wideout= Great coup in Hill we needed to stretch the field opposing defences are going to struggle with coverage with the speed of Holmes,Schillins and Hill off the line of scrimage 3- Safety= We added the best free agent safety available in Landry and added depth in the draft with bush and i was delighted to get Allen if Landry goes down. 4- RB= While i would of liked another RB with a change of pace but i think we have that with McKnight i was happy with getting Ganaway to truly go to a ground and pound offence. 5- OL= depth- While i know RT has been overlooked i don't thing they are accepting Ducasse as a bust yet and their was no way a late round pick was truly going to address this position, Griffin adds depth if Slauson or Moore go down and we added O Dowd as back up to Mangold. 6- Speed= Love the Davis signing he will defiantly replace Scott next year if not this year but what i like most is it adds mush needed speed on d, along with Hill and Schillins and Bush the jets should have a knew speedy look in 2012. 7- Team players= Looks like we have added some team first guys which is why we stayed away from disruptive free agents like Burfict and i am glad we are done with me me me free agents like Burress and Mason. In summary as well as adding Dunbar to coach the D-line and adding new WR coach OL coach and new offencive co i think the jets have done alot with the resources they had with salary cap etc. Tanny was drafting for his job and i think he pulled it off, we kept the core group of an 8-8 team and i think we are going to be very dangerous next year. Just hope Rex and co keep a low profile and stay under the radar let the haters keep talking BS and we are going to be relevant next year
If 5 rookies start there is no chance this team competes for a playoff spot. Especially if the majority of them are rookies in our defense.
All the rookies will contribute, wheather on ST or whatever, and their play will dictate how much they stay on the field, period.
It's hard to visualize us starting 4-5 Rookies maybe 2-3 . Rookies don't tend to have amazing starts. But I will say that I want to see Hill already.
The Jets appear to have two real paths to a playoff spot and a run in the playoffs next year. First would be Mark Sanchez suddenly finding himself without much in the way of support over what he had last year. It's always possible that the extra year and off-season programs, combined with the destruction of the mutant might let this happen. I kind of doubt it though. The second is that the Jets defense steps it back up and plays with the same level of ability that they did in 2009. If the Jets were really shutting down opponents all season long the odds are pretty good they make the playoffs and make some noise. For that to happen at least a few rookies are going to have to participate in a big way, starting with Coples and Antonio Allen and probably including Demario Davis as well. If Sanchez is up to pulling wins out of his ass despite having defenders hanging all over him the Jets might find path 1 with no rookies in the starting lineup. The other path is going to need probably 2 or 3 starting on defense.
