It's run all by Paul Heyman. he will be the man in the new ECW. The only thing hopefully WWE, will be it's owned and funded by WWE .
Tommy Dreamer and Paul Heyman are the 2 guys running this. Hopefully it's ECW with more financial backing.
oh so it's gunna suck either way.... wrestling is just so dead....maybe its just that we've matured too much for the childish show
o Tommy Dreamer is running it to? I guess thats cool, I don't know. Does anyone know who exactly will be in ECW? Besides Kurt Angle and Rob Van Dam. If ECW can recapture any of the majic it once had, it's gonna kick WWE's ass once again. Then Vince will pull the plug, can't make the WWE look bad.
Just a bit of guessing here, but since Edge won the #1 contender match last night, and RVD will hopefully take the title from Cena and make it the new ECW title...we could see Edge joining the ECW ranks as a rival for RVD. Then you can add Matt Hardy to the roster and really have some fun! Matt and Edge in an ECW arena would be worth my time, there would be no BS this time. I'll cross my fingers.
Nope, Apparently he was getting paid by appearance....Sunday he was working TNA PPV, Monday he was signing WWE contract
Word is, theyre offering 1 year contracts to most all the old ECW players who arent currently signed. New Jack is not being offered one tho, which sucks.
Who saw the OLD Kane coming back on Raw?!? I marked out like a little kid on Christmas. Old music, old look Kane, man .... I wonder what WWE will do with this.
Sorry man. You beat me to it and I didnt check to see if it was already posted but here is a top ten list of the best ECW moments from www.411mania.com The Top Ten ECW Moments Honorable Mention: ECW stands up again for one night (ECW One Night Stand '05) This was the re-birth of a dead organization and was the reason we're going to be having ECW in our lives again in a few weeks. One Night Stand was a magically night as fans who had been clamoring for four years to get a glimpse of their beloved ECW one last time finally got their wish. It was an event that was filled with great matches and captured the true, raw essence of ECW. It was easily my favorite PPV of 2005 and it made me realize that maybe the E can make this new ECW brand work. 10) Mikey Whipwreck wins the World Title (Hardcore TV, 10/28/95) If you thought Rey Mysterio winning the World Title was the ultimate underdog story, it was nothing compared to this. Mikey Whipwreck was a wrester who was beloved by the fans because he took an ass kicking like few others. Mikey would get the shit beat out of him and keep coming back for more and the fans loved this because Mikey showed guts. He faced off against Sandman in a Ladder Match for the world title and was viewed as a huge underdog. Steve Austin came out to cut a promo and wound up taking away the "Five dollar piece of ass" Woman from Sandman's corner to make the match even. Mikey then did the unthinkable and won the title from the Sandman. It was a great moment that the fans loved because their favorite underdog had won the big one. 9) Rey hits Juvi with a hurricarana from a car?..AY DIOS MIO!!!! (Hardcore TV, 3/9/96) The Lucha Libre matches that went on in ECW were usually wild affairs that had the participants flying all over the place and doing all types of dangerous, crazy moves. This one probably stands out over all of them, though, and was a move that was ECW personified. Juvi and Rey were battling on the outside of the building when Juvi powerbombed Rey on the hood of a car. Rey then jumped off the hood of the car and delivered a hurricarana on the concrete ground to Juvi. Just an awesome spot and one of the first things people think of when thinking about ECW. 8) Bam Bam spikes the crowd (Hardcore Heaven '97) Bam Bam Bigelow and Spike Dudley were beating the crap out of each other(well mainly Bam Bam was beating the crap out of Spike) in a very good match when Bam Bam suddenly gorilla pressed Spike over his head. The fans thought Bam Bam was going to throw Spike to the floor, but no sir. Bam Bam threw Spike INTO THE CROWD!! Now at any other wrestling show, the crowd would have moved the hell out of the way in fear of getting hurt by the oncoming body. But not in ECW. The fans caught Spike and then body surfed him around the arena as if he was a rock star. An awesome moment that showed just how crazy and awesome the ECW fans were. 7) 911 chokeslams the holy crap out of Bill Alphonso (Gangsta's Paradise, 9/16/95) To understand the importance of this moment, you have to know the back story. Fonzie was an uber-heel ref at the time for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission that threatened that he would shut down ECW if anyone laid a hand on him and banned the chokeslam in fear of 911 being able to execute the move on him. So there was a dog collar match between the Pitbulls and Stevie Richards/Raven that was 2 out of 3 falls. Each team had a fall a piece when one of the Pitbulls got knocked out leaving it as a handicap match. Tommy Dreamer ran in to help the remaining Pitbull and DDT'd Raven for the win. That's when Fonzie came out and declared the pin null and void since Tommy wasn't technically in the match and awarded the match to Raven and Stevie Richards. Todd Gordon ran out to say the match was to be restarted and Fonzie's bodyguard, Big Dick Dudley, chokeslammed Tommy Dreamer to give Raven and Stevie Richards an advantage. Fonzie then declared that it was OK for Big Dick to use the chokeslam because he was removing the ban for that night only. This brought out 911 who came in the ring and proceeded to give Fonzie one of the biggest chokeslams I've ever seen. The crowd went insane as Fonzie finally got what he deserved. This was just a classic, classic ECW moment. 6) ECW invades Raw (RAW, 2/24/97) ECW had their first PPV, Barely Legal, coming up in a couple months but didn't have too many resources to inform a nationwide audience about it. Paul was able to work out a deal with Vince to showcase some of the ECW talent on an episode of Raw and to say that the results were surreal would be an understatement. Seeing Heyman on Raw blatantly talking about how ECW was superior to any other wrestling organization, including the E, was just insane at the time. This worked out for both sides as ECW was able to get the word about their PPV out to a nationwide audience while WWE was able to add some new, unpredictable characters to the mix. Many say this episode of Raw was one of the first signs of WWE switching over to the attitude era as it was a lot more hardcore and unrestricted than it usually was. 5) Shane Douglas declares a new era of professional wrestling (ECW/NWA Title Tourney, 8/27/94) Shane Douglas and 2 Cold Scorpio were fighting over the NWA World Championship in the culmination of a tournament to crown a new champ in 1994. Douglas won the match and then proceeded to give one of the most important promos in the history of wrestling. It was the promo that gave birth to ECW as we know it today. Douglas won the prestigious NWA belt which had been worn by such greats as Harley Race, Dusty Rhodes, Ricky Steamboat and Ric Flair. He then threw down the belt and declared that he wasn't going to be handed a torch, but was rather going to be the fire starter that created a new era of the SPORT of professional wrestling. He then declared himself as the new ECW champion much to the approval of fans who started chanting the famous ECW!! ECW!! chants that we all know and love today. This ended ECW's alliance with NWA and made them create their own style and identity which would go on to influence wrestling from then until now.
4) Sabu confronts Taz…..Finally!! (November 2 Remember '96) Taz wanted to choke out Sabu and had been calling him out for just about a year. He did everything to get Sabu in the ring with him including beating up guys and calling them Sabu and calling Sabu all kinds of un-Christian names. Then at the N2R in 1996, Sabu finally answered the call. The fans, of course, went insane. When the lights went out and the fans realized Sabu was finally in the ring with Taz when the lights came back on, the place was in pandemonium. This was just a great ECW moment for one of their greatest feuds ever. 3) Cane Dewey Promo This isn't only the greatest promo ever in ECW history, this might be the greatest promo in WRESTLING history. Mick was at his absolute best here as he took a genuine emotion and turned it into a spectacular promo and a memorable ECW moment. Mick felt that ECW fans were a little bit too bloodthirsty which he used as a catalyst for his anti-hardcore promos. But then he took a personal experience from when he was in a match and a fan had a sign saying "Cane Dewey" in reference to Mick's three year old son and turned it into a hate-filled promo that tried to convince Tommy Dreamer to take the big bucks of WCW and get away from the horrible fans of ECW. What made this promo so great is that Mick was right about everything he was saying because if someone made a sign talking about harming your three year old child, you would be pretty pissed too. The old adage goes that the best type of heels are the ones who believe they are absolutely justified in everything that they are doing or saying. Mick did this to perfection. The anger and hurt in his voice draws you in and this is one of those promos that I can watch numerous times and never get sick of. It was a terrific promo and a great moment for ECW that is still talked about to this day. "Dewey Foley is a three year old boy….YOU SICK SONS OF BITCHES!!!" Awesome. 2) The King invades ECW (WrestlePalooza, 6/6/97) This was just one of the most surreal and unexpected things to ever happen in ECW. For months, Jerry Lawler had badmouthed ECW on Monday Night Raw talking about how it stood for "Extremely Crappy Wrestling" and was completely worthless. He always talked a big game, but never did anything to back it up. That was until WrestlePalooza. Tommy Dreamer had finally beaten Raven after years of always losing to him and was about to celebrate his moment. All of a sudden the lights went out and Jerry Lawler was in an ECW ring. The fans went absolutely bonkers as he is one of the last people they would have ever expected to see in ECW. Lawler proceeded to beat the shit out of Dreamer and some other ECW stars with the help of "Mr. Monday Night" RVD and Sabu. This was just a super hot moment that was one of the biggest surprises ever in ECW. 1) ECW finally gets on Pay-Per-View (Barely Legal, 4/13/97) This was a moment that was years in the making and epitomized everything that ECW had been working for up until that point. The PPV was nearly cancelled due to the infamous Mass Transit Incident, but with some serious butt kissing and maybe penis sucking, Paul Heyman was able to get the PPV back on. ECW fans had been waiting for such a long time to see their favorite wrestlers perform live and this was the payoff for them being such loyal fans. The event included the "Grudge Match of The Century" between Sabu and Taz, an actually good RVD promo, and Terry Funk winning the World Title at 53 years old. More importantly, though, it signaled ECW expanding its audience. This was the biggest moment ever in ECW history as it could have either made the promotion or broken the promotion. It wound up making the promotion and even though it wound up folding four years later, it wouldn't have had those four years if this PPV wasn't a success. A great event and the greatest moment ever for ECW.
Good list in my book. Here are five other moments I loved or I would consider very memorable: 1) Francine getting super-bombed through a table. 2) Taz and Bam Bam Bigelow crash through the ring in Asbury Park 3) The Night the Line Was Crossed (Sabu, Shane Douglas, Terry Funk) 4) Cactus Jack's exit from ECW 5) Steve Austin promos (And welcome to Monday Nyquil right here where the big boys play with each other! If you're thinking about watching another wrestling promotion, don't bother because this is the only one that's live. Ok on our show tonight. First time in the history of the world. A bottle of Geritol on a pole match. We're gonna have all the old geezers in our organization scrapping around and using their walkers. Did I say we're live? Okay. We have to go to break. I'm gonna fire someone over the phone just like I did Austin. And we're liiiive!)
