Can't believe what I've read in this thread...Woodhead is a role player, that's all he ever will be. If Woodhead had to carry the ball 200 times a year he'd be exposed as the role player he is.
Jets coulda used a role player who could rack up well over a hundred yards on a handfull of touches against the Pats Monday night. Oh, wait, that would be silly.
hahahaha...you're relentless. Would you feel better if the Jets went out and signed Verne Troyer to play HB?
Seriously. The Pats wouldn't have had any interest in a quick, shifty, pass catching RB with 4.3 -> 4.4 speed like Woodhead I mean McKnight if we had cut him.
You really think we should have cut a promising rookie before he even had a chance to prove himself? Over a guy who was here for years that we couldn't find a use for? You are an idiot if this is your opinion. Woodhead would be doing exactly what he was doing if he was here, sitting on the bench.
Woodhead's failure to get playing time here was not his fault, it is one the CS. Rex always preaches about putting players in a position to succeed. With Woodhead, he failed. Belichick did not. Pretty simple. This regime's ego got in the way. Woodhead wasn't "their" guy, McKnight is. Woodhead will be a thorn in our side for years. Why do so many people hate white football players?
Because, we all know bringing David Clowney in for a week was necessary since White Chocolate has no hands.
Dude..They shared the same roster spot. The comparison is apt. But...Fuck it....(not referring to Buck Frady's assless chaps) The pats are now a memory, so he's an interesting side note until next season.
Its just frustrating that the Patriots picked up Woodhead. Its just an unfortunate situation for us. Its great for him to get playing time and showcase his talent, but its just frustrating all around because the justifications for his release is understandable. Just something that got away from us, there is no point in trying to marginalize his talent in the years to come like people still do with leon. It is what it is man.
I say again... they should have cut McKnight to keep Woodhead. Where do you keep coming up with this?
The only reason I can even imagine why you would think this is if you really believe that one year of play time as a rookie determines how good a player will be for the rest of his career. You have no idea how good McKnight is now, and you have no idea how good he will be next year. You also don't know how long Woodhead's run will last. You should stop crying and watch football. And don't tell me that the reason is 'we would be better this year,' because we would be in the exact same position we're in right now.
He can't even be captain hindsight yet because it hasn't been proven that McKnight is worse than Woodhead. He has gotten the amount of opportunity that Woodhead would have gotten on this roster this year.
Wasn't David clowney the reason we released woodhead? Then after the clown was cut again it was Patrick turner
