He's a matchup problem for most but usually he's catching 9-10 balls for 90-100 yds. There's no excuse for allowing this glorifed RB to have nearly 200 rec yds.

He did have career high numbers yesterday, so it wasn't an "average" game for Welker, it was one of his best ever

The "glorified runningback" is leading the NFL in receptions despite missing 2 1/2 games. He's leading the NFL in total receptions for past 2 1/2 seasons. If it's so easy, why dont the Jets use one of their RB's to do the same.

He catches balls like he's a running back, they are most quick screens like long handoffs and he has a good RBs average catching pass out of the backfield.

It's not easy, he's good. he creates matchup problems. he doesn't usually burn teams the way he did to us yesterday but we have a banged up secondary so Drew Coleman on Welker is not a good match up. Normally he's getting 8-9 recs a game for 80-90 yds. That's not a killer, what he did yesterday was a killer.

The Pats gave up a 2nd/4th/7th to get Moss and Welker.

The Cowboys gave up a 1st/3rd/6th to get Roy Williams.

BB will continue to shy away from drafting receivers because of the uncertainty. He does tend to do well by identifying the talent that compliments the offense.

At what point in this game should we have tried Revis on him? Any thoughts on this.

    Good assessment.

The offense really needs both guys - Moss and Welker - to make it go. They're completely different "types" of receivers and each one's success helps the other one do well also.

Someone already said it but he's a lot like Chrebet... just a little quicker, IMO.

You do understand that 8-9 catches a game makes you All-Pro, if not All-World. That's over 140 a season. Welker does this despite the fact that everyone expects the ball to be coming to him. Geez, there were articles in the NY papers this week saying Welker was gonna be a huge weapon in that game. He killed the Jets despite everyone knowing the game plan, despite a defense that talks about how great they are, and despite a coach who proclaims to be a defensive genius.

If Revis was put on welker Moss would have had his usual 10 for 175 or so.

mangini did it and it worked.

I wonder if the Moss-Revis Bullshit got in the way of sound defensive planning. I'm not about to put it past this CS.

This team needs another corner. At this point they are limiting Sheppard due to the contractual stuff, and it goes beyond the 85% playing time.

It also is very difficult to cover a slot receiver with a cornerback. At that point you are playing nickel in even running situations.

Revis is the answer but he can't cover Moss and Welker at the same time.

Basically, Bellichuck put a poison pill in the offer, that the dolphins couldn't possibly match. I forget the details but I think it was something stupid like "if you play at least 3 games next year in dolphin stadium, you will receive a $10M bonus".

But like others have said, I don't know that he'd be the same player without Brady & Moss..

That's a good point. Rex has a weakness for bravado. Law with Rhodes over the top slowed down Moss last year.

REVIS CAN SHUT DOWN MOSS OR WELKER ALL DAY, the only way to stop both is to clone REVIS. haha

Wrong! BB and Saban have mutual respect, so instead of putting the poison pill in a contract offer (ala Hutchinson and Martin), the Pats agreed to give the Phins 2 picks, which definitely no trying to stick it to the Phins.

Why would they make a trade and give up a 2nd rounder if they already had an offer for Welker the Phins couldn't match?

Ha! Too much paperwork for the fish dicks. That makes sense, I guess. If you're going to trade away your best wide receiver, best to do it quick, like a bandaid.
