Truth be told there are very few politicians who have been trained for the kind of dynamics in play right now. It is a crazy, crazy world right now and not in a remotely good way.
You are probably right. Joe Biden's "minor incursion" remarks and Kamala applauding Ukraine's quest to join NATO while Russian troops were amassed on its border were stunning mis-steps. Then there was the confusion surrounding Polish fighter jets... amateur hour. This administration's failed diplomacy and soft embrace of Ukraine is killing its citizens.
Poland makes pretty good vodka. Belvedere is one of the best. We also tried Chopin, a potato vodka that tastes quite different from the usual grain ones. Iceland's Reyka is also pretty good. The most overpriced stuff was Russian Czar's Village. It was about $90 for a very fancy looking 750ml bottle back then. Stoli Elite is also overpriced. Jewel of Russia was another very good Russian brand. We once tried Americana. I think they make it in NJ. The bottle is a patriotic red, white and blue but the content is garbage. Texas' Tito's is almost as bad. Anyway, back on the subject. Here's another ambush in the Ukraine:
Can this brand make a come back Drinks Americas was subject to several lawsuits surrounding Trump Vodka. Bruni Glass sued over unpaid bills and, as a result, melted in a furnace 500,000 Trump Vodka mini-bottles ready for shipment.[7] Donald Trump also sued Drinks Americas for unpaid royalties, but the case was dismissed for lack of subject matter jurisdiction.[9]
There were no diplomatic solutions to this situation that Putin would have accepted that were acceptable to Ukraine, the USA or NATO. Are you really suggesting that Biden should have rolled back NATO to pre-1991 borders? Really? You think Ukraine would have accepted a partition of the country and not being allowed to join NATO afterwards? It just wasn't happening. As soon as Putin decided to make those demands the invasion of Ukraine was a foregone conclusion. We all watched him roll forces up to the border and move them around for months - deciding what form the invasion was going to take.
Did I suggest NATO be rolled back? Putin seemed content to leave it as is. I think our installation of a puppet government in 2014 and continuing to supply them with weapons to attack Russian speaking eastern Ukrainians was forcing Putin's hand. No one wants to discuss the dirty dealings that were going on before Putin decided to invade a shaky sovereignty. What would we do if China started meddling in Mexico's government and supplied high powered weaponry to the cartels? Let's face it... this war isn't about democracy... it's about oil & money... business as usual. NATO morphed years ago into the protective agency of both. It would be great if Putin's barbaric actions were to lead to diminishment of his power & influence... and maybe his downfall. But who's next to rule Russia? I don't see any ruler that would be happy with NATO next door.
Oh, I've never had vodka from iceland that sounds cool. I like american beer, but something seems off about american vodka.
I thought he demanded the removal of U.S. nuclear weapons from eastern Europe and veto power on Ukraine's membership. If it was more than that then I stand corrected. edit: a quick google check proves me wrong...
