Shhh. Some people aren’t made for facts and research. Who’d have thought having an endless supply of information at our fingertips would make us dumber as a society?
She shouldn't have giggled in her answering of that question, no doubt about it. That was unprofessional and wrong given the circumstances. I'm not defending that because I dont think it should be defended, I just believe women, especially women in politics are given a higher standard to be "pleasant" than men are. If she answered that like a man, direct and to the point, stepping on the Polish guy's toes to get it done, they woulda called her a bitch. I think this has been ingrained into her and she thinks about it way too much. She represents our country now, she should quit that shit, answer it directly and if they call her a bitch- so be it. This aint the time and place to make friends, its time for leadership
Okay, my bad. Frankly, that makes her look even worse. She's in way the fuck over her head. There is just no way someone who spent her entire professional career in the courtroom should lapse into a 12 year old girl's giggle fit as a reflex to difficult questioning.
Yeah but this guy has his hair the way he does and has referred to hitler as der furher. I think he may be a nazi in republican clothing. A lot of those these days. On the other i would never call mitch McConnell, someone i detest, a nazi. It simply wouldn't be true.
Her track record is also kind of all over the place as a DA. For something, against something, for it again, pro-cop, police vitriol, etc. She does that laugh thing often enough, but was that ever poor timing.
Yeah look at it, it's right out of the third reich, and then referring to hitler as der furher. I could let the haircut go, but that's two strikes, hesout in my book
Biden has announced a ban on imports of Russian vodka. Good thing I have more than enough of that in my stash
Um... well, two jobs ago we were doing so-called "vodka tastings" every few months on Fridays. We pretty much tried every vodka you can buy in the US. The Russian Standard Platinum was the clear winner, hands down, followed by another Russian brand, Beluga. I am talking about straight up vodka drinking, no cocktails allowed.
I don't disagree at all on that point. I think the level of messaging for both Biden and Harris suggests that they're not getting the best political advice/service at this point. Harris got sent into a ridiculously bad situation with the Polish government's suggestion that the USA should effectively start a shooting war with Russia in Ukraine. The suggestion delivered as her plane was wheels up in the air to Poland. A savvier administration would have had a seasoned pro travelling with Harris and that person would have prepped her for the no good answers situation she was going to find herself in when she landed. She would have had a canned response to a predictable line of questioning. If I'm the Biden administration I am going out to hire somebody right now to travel with Biden and/or Harris and do damage control when the chaos that is happening both in Ukraine and in the USA gets out of control and demands an impossible answer in real-time. Neither of the principals is capable of handling all the crap that gets lobbed at them on a regular basis. Probably no President since Bill Clinton was capable of handling anything thrown his way and Clinton was famous for the ability - "that all depends on what your definition of 'is' is"... The reality that the Biden administration faces is that they're facing determined enemies abroad and at home simultaneously. There's a reason that the conventional wisdom was that politics stops at the edge of the water. That's one of the many qualities that let America be both a vibrant democracy and the most powerful of nations in the world at the same time. That reality no longer exists and American governments are going to have to adapt or our system of government with it's checks and balances is a goner and it is going to become winner-take-all in a hurry.
Oh damn, that sounds fancy! I was just talking about the cheap shit. Whats your favorite? How were the other countries!
I think in a way the u.s. presidency has become more like the french presidency, in that the president has both more immediacy, and in power. Immediacy meaning the executive bureaucracies and those that the executive shares with the other branches have become more focused on the orders of the president than any other political will. Power meaning the executive bureaucracies have grown themselves large enough to carry out the presidents' will without the cooperation of shared bureaucracies and even in the face of opposition to the presidents will. I've been calling it the imperial presidency for some time now, but really its the early napoleonic system brought to the us. There are such strong resemblences between the French presidency and our presidencies operation since perhaps reagan or nixon. I think it will only trend that way further until we have an empire.
That may be an understatement. Kamala has had numerous members of her staff quit on her amid reports that she didn't read briefing materials... and lashed out at others when she was roasted by media for being unprepared. When one realizes that she's just winging it... the uncomfortable laughing, the confusing answers to questions, and the word salad statements all make sense. Kamala Harris is a fraud.
It depends on whether you want WWIII or not. I'd say from Ukraine's perspective our posture is bad. From virtually everybody else's perspective it is the only sane posture at this point. The Poles may want to help Ukraine but I'll guarantee you they don't want a free fire zone in Poland and that's what will happen if the war spills over into NATO territory. The real test will be when the Chinese go for Taiwan. The US has been cryptic about whether we would go to war in that case.
