If an American dictatorship persecuted, killed canadians and Mexicans for centuries and got elected pro- American puppet dictator which prevented them to have full autonomy then yes as Canadian myself I would love a democracy to liberate us. Even more when we were just abld to get back our full autonomy.

You comparison does not make sense. This invasion is exactly to the point like modern day Hitler from WW2 tactic when he invaded Czechoslovakia and Poland.

A frustrated Hitler who wanted a powerful Germany back invade another country to get back their pride and former glory from the shame of WW1.

This Putin love fest is disgusting me. He is protecting his influence and *cough* kills Nazi... no. He is invading and killing people of a free country for his very OWN personal gain.

What the fuck are you talking about? Are you asking if I would be cool with China invading Canada or Mexico? How is that remotely equivalent to the Ukraine situation?

Is Brittany Griner going to be the reason the US becomes more involved than sanctions from halfway across the world?

The original analogy is, of course, totally wrong. The question should be: if the elected leaders of Canada (or Mexico or anywhere close to US territory for that matter) decided that they would like to politically align themselves in a bloc with China and the overwhelming opinion of its people approved and would likely vote for such a move, would you be okay with the US invading Canada to liberate its English speaking peoples, bombing its cities and killing its civilians on the pretexts that, a) Canada as a nation shouldn't really exists because you are all Americans and share a common culture; and b) that a small band martial artist militia who have stood up to you before are representative of an entire nation and the political leanings of its leaders.

Saying the US is to blame for Russia invading Ukraine is like blaming Chevrolet for manufacturing a Corvette because you decided to buy one.

What's silly about the U.S. sacrificing Ukrainian lives in a proxy war against Russia?

"The United States aids Ukraine and her people, so that we can fight Russia over there, and we don’t have to fight Russia here."
    - Adam Schiff January 2020

The Russian invasion of Ukraine is the culmination of a decade and a half of U.S. driven escalation in the region.
Washington wanted this... and as usual... the powerless pay the price.

Because you're essentially saying Ukraine had to abide by a dictator of the country next door instead of choose who they want to be friendly with. That's the harsh reality of it, but where's the political freedom in that? Liberty is in the name...

Nobody is defending this illegal invasion... quit being so binary.
There's nothing wrong with discussing what led to it.

Your theories on what led up to it are pro-Russian theories. Spare us the bullshit

I think we have been pretty influential , and involved in their happenings. But it’s Russia who decided to invade. My biggest problem with the whole thing as I said yesterday, is I feel we should have made them part of nato before. The sanctions are great and all, but it’s not helping them now as they are dying.
