At least the Ukrainians have some stones on them to fight for their homeland unlike the Afghan President and forces who laid down their guns 48 hours into the Taliban’s advance. The same Afghan army we spent 20 years building up.

It’s also nice that the US based social media giants are allowing state run Russian social media accounts to push their bullshit out.

No, the way it was explained is the missile bank was Russian. My understanding is a lot of such missiles are portable.

Could be bs but Russia has been said to have targeted and destroyed all the US bio labs in Ukraine... evidently they didn’t like having Wuhan like labs so close to their borders...

They left all other major infrastructure targets that would really cripple Ukraine standing...

Regarding that big explosion over Kyiv -

I've heard everything from it being a Ukranian jet that was shot down by a Russian AA battery, a Russian jet that was shot down by a Ukranian AA missile, and that it was a Russian cruise missile shot down by Ukraine.

Who knows. There's so much misinformation going around from all sides.

Shame on Germany and Italy for opposing the SWIFT sanctions.

Regardless of what you think of Trump, it's no coincidence that Putin annexed Crimea under Obama and invaded Ukraine under Biden. There's strength in appearing to be a madman and a wildcard - that's what Trump had going for him and nobody wanted to fuck around and find out if he was being serious with his threats or not. You can afford to carry a big stick and talk a big game when you have the reputation the US military does. The incompetent pussies running our country lately have completely lost sight of that.

I think the more cynical geopolitical game would be to make Ukraine a eunuch "buffer zone," throwing their own aspirations to be an independent and free democracy into the maw of the Russian bear.

The Ukrainians are clearly a proud and brave people who are willing to fight to the death for their freedom and independence, even saying "go fuck yourself" to the Russians while literally staring down the barrels of Russian guns.

They would certainly say "go fuck yourself" to any nations trying to make them pawns and stuff eunuch state status down their throats. And I hope that we would not degrade ourselves and make ourselves craven, abject hypocrites in the world's eyes by being one of those nations.

Is there anyone who's not a Nazi? It's quite amusing how loosely that word is being used these days. Putin calls Ukrainian nationalists Nazis. Ukrainians call Putin a Nazi. The left here in the States calls all Trump supporters Nazis. The right uses that same word to describe Antifa, etc.

Despite what he said about predicting Putin's actions... it's obvious Joe Biden is playing catch-up right now.

He has fucked Ukraine over once again... :(

He will not risk it. I believe all NATO are waiting for him to make that mistake.

I was just reading about that. I can see the photo of Snake Island in your post, but not much else (I don't belong to Twitter, so oftimes what I can see is limited).

They weren't even soldiers in every sense of the word. They were border guards. Russian warship: "Stand down and surrender!" Border guards: "Russian warship, go fck yourselves." Those guards damn well knew what was coming and they did it, anway. RIP and badass indeed.

The bravery of it is incredibly awe-inspiring but it's also horrifically sad. They were massacred. They will all be made official Heroes of Ukraine.

The island is 40 miles from the Romanian border, so I guess part of the message Putin was trying to send was hey, you over there, don't think about messing with me and the other part was resist and this will happen to you. What I think Putin unwittingly got himself instead was a rallying call: "The thirteen!"

Who knows if this act of tyranny will begin a snowball effect of turning the tide against him with his own army and for a bunch of folks back in Russia who are too terrified (with good reason) to speak out, but wouldn't that be delicious? How amazing if 13 young people sacrificing their lives becomes the lynchpin to take down a behemoth. Pipe dream? Maybe, but stranger things have been known to happen.

I also read something very interesting. A lot of Russians didn't actually think the invasion was going to happen, even amongst Russian military personnel. Another account I read was also very telling. About 6 Ukrainian soldiers captured a Russian soldier: "What do you want! What are you doing here!" The soldier actually said, "I don't know."

This story really got to me. Fck Putin.

Edited to add: At least one of the guards was female. There is audio out there that I probably won't ever listen to. She turns the volume down when asked to surrender. "Should we tell them to go fck themselves . . . just in case?" Volume goes back up: "Russian warship, go fck yourselves." I'll be feeling really humble for a long, long time.

More on The Snake Island Massacre (which is what I'm calling it now):

"The small contingent of soldiers, allegedly 13 in number, were posted on Snake Island in the Odessa region and were defending the territory after Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

On Thursday afternoon, Ukraine's interior ministry had said Snake Island, which is also called Zmiinyi, had been attacked by Russian forces.

Snake Island is strategically important because it will allow Russia to claim territorial waters stretching 12 nautical miles out to sea."

^So there's that part. Anyway, this is a war crime if I ever saw one.

Biden tells us we all have to suffer economically for the greater good.
We can provide significant, immediate relief to the American people and he refuses to , because he is a puppet to radicals. And he received the most votes in American history?

so for those of you who know history, is this the worst presidency ever? Worse than Hoover?

Possibility of talks on “neutrality” of Ukraine , between Ukraine and Russia may take place in Belarus. Amazing how some terminology could have avoided this in the first place

It's not just clearly identified Russian social media accounts that are the problem. A bigger problem, I think, are the foreign and "American" posters on social media accounts who are actually Russian trollers:

Inside The 'Propaganda Kitchen' -- A Former Russian 'Troll Factory' Employee Speaks Out (rferl.org)

I don't advocate censorship, but I think all U. S. citizens need to be vigilant about possible attempts to undermine our morale and divide us as we engage in a cold war conflict with totalitarian enemies.

Whenever you read a critical or defeatist comment about our country or our country's leadership, ask yourself questions like, "Does this comment benefit the U. S. more or Russia more?"

Besides taking internet comments with a grain of salt, we might consider how our own comments might give comfort to the enemy. This is not to say we can't criticize a president in wartime. Rather, we should remember that our enemies can take comfort from our divisions. So, instead of saying stuff like, "Biden sucks and he's leading us to certain defeat by Russia," we might make suggestions that would in our view improve the situation. For example, "Biden better be putting pressure on Germany and Italy to approve cutting off SWIFT. He should definitely be negotiating with them to get them alternative sources of energy, so that they can impose maybe the most important sanction against Russia."

It seems that we are so divided that many Americans have been trained to attack what they see as the other side (WHO ARE ALSO AMERICANS NOT RUSSIANS!!!) to the detriment of presenting a united front in the face of our enemies.

According to Russian sources, the entire story was made up. There were 80+ border guards on that island and all of them were taken POW.
