You know I'm a Pats fan... and I read this and other messageboards from time to time. But Schotty? He's horrible. I actually don't think Sanchez is bad... he makes decent decisions and has some mobility and arm strength - but the guy is throwing a zillion times a game and he's not THAT kind of guy. So yeah, one of them has to go for your offense to turn around - it's easy to be an OC and draw up bombs all day long if you have a superstar QB. A good O Coordinator should be able to win at least 60-75% of the time with an average QB. Obviously you have some speed issues on defense, but offensively this guy Schott is about the worst I've ever seen in my life. And worst, he's completely lost the locker room. I give Rex A LOT of credit for going out of his way to show team unity. You know, he may hope Schott gets hit by a bus but he's never going to let anyone know at all that he doesn't have confidence in ANYONE in the organization - that's a stand up head coach and a stand up guy. I was a college player and I would love to have played for a guy like him... Good luck next year... glad you're not going to be beating us at home this year. Cheers.
Incorrect. In fact this kind of Big Lie is the favored urban legend of Schotty Haters. Favre "failed" after he got hurt, and before that had been doing quite well. But even more tellingly, Pennington won Comeback Player of the Year in his first year with Schotty. How is that failure?
Didn't he also win comeback player of the year in his first year without him too? He was far better in Miami than he had been here in years.
So what? The point is it is a big lie to say Pennington suffered under Schotty as the OC. Chad's problems in his second year with Schotty were due to his fragility and injuries.
Favre was 15 TDs and 11 INTS at the halfway mark of the season. He wasnt lighting it up as people remember before the injury. Surpisignly enough he also had most of his fumbles before the halfway mark.
Ftr I do not think that Schotty is above criticism, but anyone who does not recognize these problems with Sanchez does not know football. The one criticism I have of the OP, and of Schotty in that regard, is that Schotty does have a responsibility to help develop the Qb. But it's hard to say how much development is really possible with Sanchez. Expecting more of him, more of the CS in developing him, may be expecting them to make lemonade from some very sour lemons. And without sugar.
And then we threw the ball even more in poor weather (Denver and Seattle) while Favre was hurt and it was not throwing conditions? Not very good planning by Schotty especially when Seattle had one worst run defenses if I remember correctly
No, it's the big truth called "Statistics". If you take a look at them you can clearly see that Shotty is a black hole that makes all quaterbacks around him suck. I'm not even going to bother looking them up and citing them anymore. Anyone who doesn't get it by now isn't going to be convinced by more facts.
If he isn't throwing well for any reason, you don't keep on throwing. Even if you did not know he was injured, if he is playing poorly why throw more? It is inexcusable how we can cite multiple gmaes where we threw the ball much more than we should have in close games. (Denver with Favre, Seattle with Favre, Buffalo in 09, Giants this year). I understand Schotty has not had the cream of the crop qb wise, but isn't it his job to do the best with what he has? Look at Alex Smith, Tebow, Flacco, Yates, Jackson in SEA, where teams have average to below average QBs and still made it work offensively.
C'mon man! Even Paul Hackett got more out of Chad Pennington than BS could. This problem predates Sanchez.
Your handle, your avatar and the lack of analysis in your posts say all that needs to be said in exemplifying a poster here who won't be convinced by facts. Again, Chad was Comeback Player of the Year his first year with Schotty. Is that how you define sucking?
If you look at the facts Blocker has owned you outright. Using stats to say Penny sucked under Scotty is simply a lie. Nobody expected that team to compete for a playoff spot and the QB with all his arm issues carried that team. The 08 team before the Favre injury was the best team in the AFC. Shotty needs to go but the reality is its based on him being tied to Sanchez and an ill devised personal and O that's under him now after 3 years with Rex.
