So you think the Jets are faking an injury to trick the media?

I mean we all watched him get violently smashed to the turf and then clearly in discomfort while being looked at on the sideline.

Do you have me confused with some other poster? I never said the Jets were faking anything. Maybe you mean last night when I posted it would be a sad way for the thread to end if he was placed on IR with a phantom injury. I was just saying that would be sad with the great preseason he had. He could truly be hurt, but it gave the Jets a great opportunity to solve their QB issue.

Pump the brakes on the great preseason thing. This was no Browning Nagle type performance.

    /end sarcasm

I hope it isn't serious - Bryce put all the madden comments to reset imo

Yeah, he got injured on that play. Went to the locker room. Never returned. Was in a sling post game. So many Jets writers suggested he may end up on IR with a shoulder injury. Allowing the Jets to keep all 4 QB's but only 3 on the roster (Fitz,Geno,Hack). I was just saying maybe he took a hit to his shoulder and the Jets just wanted to protect him as their back-up QB. And that Geno might end up being the odd man out still. Curve ball to media who just assumed he would be placed on IR and Geno would be the #2.

Per Bowles: Petty bruised shoulder. Wont be placed on IR yet, maybe later if it doesnt heal. Wont impact their cut down plans.

Yep. Per Bowles Geno is the #2 QB too. He is talking as if they will keep all 4, but I have to see it to believe it. Great news on Petty though.

Like I was saying earlier, Petty is fine. X-Rays came back negative last night and Petty even stated himself that he felt fine, just a little sore. Today an MRI only revealed a bruise.

This fan base went into panic mode regarding Petty. Talks of IR's, being cut etc sometimes you just have to relax and let the smoke settle before jumping the gun.

But hey I guess part of being a Jets fan is hoping for the best while expecting the worst.

Petty's postgame interview last night didn't appear to be of an injured quarterback suffering a season ending injury therefore I seen no reason for panic mode.

It was more the New York media than the fans. Each one talked about IRing Petty. It was embarrassing.

Petty to i.r. would be the best possible scenario. He's been in the system for 2 off-seasons now. Him sitting this season and hack practicing and they both come in next year on close to equal footing.
I would expect that shoulder won't be responding to therapy over the next weeks

Here's the actual quote regarding will he go to IR

“No, it’s too early to tell,” Bowles said. “We’re still waiting to see the recovery time. And we’re just going to assess him this week and see how it goes with treatment.”

If the jets head any intentions of just stashing him on IR this was the perfect opportunity. No reason for them to screw around if that's what they wanted to do.

Great news it's only a bruise.

Good that its no structural damage BUT until he begins throwing again will the jets be able to determine a timetable. He likely will not go to IR.

I also think petty can be a starter in the right situation my only beef will be his durability. Someone mentioned pennington above and they have similar body types though petty has a stronger arm.

I dont think there is any way petty leaves this team before geno.

Petty is 6'-3"/230 lbs. That's pretty solid for a QB. Pennington's height and weight is very similar but Petty just looks bigger. Must be the muscle mass. Its good that Petty was able to take that hit and damn near shake it off. I think he's been hit a few times this preseason and he just gets back up. The Kid will be fine and if this FO/CS is as savvy as we all hope, Petty will get his shot with the 1's next year.

Chad upper body was so weak for a professional football player, you're right, Petty's upper body is much more developed. The throws he makes are effortless with that insanely fast release.

He doesn't put as much power behind them as Hack does, but I think it works all the same.

Your right... Last nights 40 yard TD pass Petty basically just flicked his wrist.

Ok pretty sure Pennington would have disintegrated into a cloud of dust if he took that hit.
