both picks came off of tips. While the petty throw was worse it is still not as bad as some of the choices we have seen Geno made. Petty did not see the other Giants player, where as we have seen Geno throw into triple coverage, lead the receiver into defenders and have not seen the same outrage. I can live with a player making mistake it is making the same mistake over and over and over again Like Geno does. I want to see petty come out and run the same play and watch what he does.
yes I am I see fans here say give Geno another chance, he has never played with talent, meanwhile the same members here get pissed looking at Geno's crap an we are told we don't know shit. S yes I am serious, there are still people here pushing for Geno to be on the team tell me how and why, please? The reaction to some fans here have Petty going from battling for the number two job to getting cut on that choice while Geno is giving chance after chance after chance. So I am fucking serious. Like this post from another thread here about Geno by Gremilin why we should keep Geno.... "He posted a perfect game in his last start................has been good in practice.............something about never having decent weapons.........rex........actual game experice..........stuff" Where is the outrage over the above and about how easily the forget about the perfect 0.0 game against the bills. The game where he went a perfect 3 for to start the game except they were to the other team
I don't think the evaluation is completed, to me it looks like the last PS game will be a must watch.
If they cut Petty I will loose it.. Geno is terrible and needs a fresh start.. Try and trade Geno for a 7th if not cut him and save $1M in cap space. Roll 3 QBs Fitz Petty Hack
I personally think Hack is already better then Petty but the Jets are taking their time. Petty needs to step it up, Bowles gave him a big opportunity yesterday and blew it.
Yeah we disagree on some things but thats not one of them. Petty will be here. Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
None of the QBs have done great this pre-season. Fitz looks rusty as hell. Geno remains mediocre. Petty had one good game and two stinkers. Hackenberg is the only one that I think hasn't screwed up yet. In his limited time in one game, he showed some beauties. His pick wasn't a great choice (and if it was Geno we'd roast him for it) but blah blah blah, playcalling. His final incompletion at the end of the game wasn't his fault. O-line got ripped through like cheap toilet paper and he had no time and threw it to his safety valve...that was covered pretty well. No QB in the NFL could have made something happen that play. Geno has slightly outplayed Petty over all three games so far (But not by much) and given his experience, you would expect a bigger gap. Though Petty has really gotten better. Game 4 I think will tell us the final story of Petty. Either he tears it up or he doesn't. He'll get plenty of reps in so he has to prove he can lead the offense to score multiple times without turnovers or he just isn't ready to be the #2.
Your original statement is ridiculous in 2 ways. 1) There is not outrage about Petty for one play, shitty as it was, in a preseason game. 2) The outrage for Geno is rampant, 75% of the fanbase including you are so blinded by that performance that you cannot even fathom that he belongs on the team this year as the backup. Geno is the most despised Jet player in the history of this board. I don't think a single poster on this board excuses some of Geno's shortcomings and past performances, including me and I would rather have seen Geno start this year over another year of Fitztragic. Truth is Hack will be over Petty (if still here) on the depth chart by the start of next season and that has nothing to do with one shitty INT in a preseason game.
You're probably right about your last sentence, but I'm not so sure it's a fact or given yet. Petty might give Hack a real run for his money.
They're not gonna cut Petty. If they had to drop a QB it would be Geno. They want to compete this year and they may think Geno gives them the better chance if Fitz goes down, for now. I think they keep all four QB's, for now.
I felt that way when we drafted him. I never thought too highly of Petty to begin with. Hack has a better arm, and run the pro style offense and has the iq to boot. Hack has some issues for sure, but I think his road to becoming a starter is much clearer.
I don't think Bowles would cut Geno unless he's sure Petty's better, and there's no way you can say that at this point no matter what happens next week. The only way I see Geno off the roster is if we get a good trade offer from a team like Dallas.
He was mediocre the first week, not bad. And I don't think you can use "If he sucks Game 4" as a valid argument.
The first week we saw that Petty had the aptness to learn and advance up the learning curve. Calling that shitty is absurd. Has Geno ever shown a capacity to do that? Gimme a break with some of this nonsense
