No shot of this happening. Unless hacks arm falls off he will not make it to the practice squad. I don't care how bad they make him sound
That's speculation on my part, or thru place him on ir. Either way i expect they'll figure something out. I don't think any team wants him anyway. Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
He would have to be released to make it on the Practice Squad. No way a team releases a 2nd Round QB 3 months after picking him. Redshirting him in the NFL is interesting though, as he does take up a roster spot to just learn. However, if he ends up being a great QB, obviously worth it.
I've had it as my signature the last few years. It's a joke cause usually I finished really low. I did my best ever last year though finishing 7th.
Petty outplayed Geno in both preseason games. If you rewatched the first game you would see that I think. Now the only question is can Petty do it against the starters and second teamers. I think he can. But we wont get to find out in pre-season unfortunately. My thought is the Jets will keep Petty and he is in their future plans. Hack has a year or two of development, and Petty will get a shot at starter next year and the year after. I think they are keeping things in place to continue to develop the young guys and try to maximize Geno's value for a potential late round pick in a trade.
I agree with all except the first and last part. Geno will be here this season, they'll get nothing for him when he leaves next season Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
Only way Geno stays is if he comes in as the backup and does well....long shot on all accounts at this point Carrying 4 QBs is not the worst thing in the world....they don't activate like 7 or 8 guys each game so it's not like we would be missing out of a depth player on game day Someone else who wouldn't have played anyway all season will have to go to the practice squad...oh well
Having 4 QB's likely means one of the up and coming WR's hits the street. I'd like for the Jets to keep Peake, Marshall and Anderson, but having that 4th QB limits what they can do.
Another Geno hater! Who the heck do you guys think is going to bail us out when Fitz shitz his pants. GENO!
"Hater" LOL That's weak, man! Just go ahead and call him racist, you know you wanna. And based on 2 games this PS, Geno can't bail himself out, much less anyone else.
Yes, keeping 4 QBs limits them and means they will probably have to lose a player they would have liked to have kept, but why a WR? Why not a player at another position? Of course, it could be a WR, but I don't see why that's more likely than a player at another position. IMO the talent at WR is better than at about any other position the Jets have. Now Bowles did say that it might not be the "best" 53, but the "right" 53, whatever that means. Following is one possibility of how things could pan out. OFFENSE (25) QB (4) - Fitz, Geno, Petty & Hack RB (3) - Forte, Powell & Robinson WR (7) - B. Marshall, Decker, Enunwa, Peake, J. Marshall, R. Anderson, Ross TE (2) - Amaro, Bostic OL (9) - Clady, Carpenter, Mangold, Winters, Ijalana, Qvale, Johnson, Shell, Watts (or Dozier) On offense, I don't see any other prospects that have had better TCs or are any better prospects than Peake, J. Marshall and/or R. Anderson DEFENSE (25) DL (7) - Mo, Richardson, L. Williams, McClendon, Simon, Jarvis Jenkins, S. Harris LB (8) - Harris, Henderson, Mauldin, Jordan Jenkins, Lee, Carter, Bishop, Catapano CB (6) - Revis, Skrine, Williams, Milliner, McDougle, Burris S (4) - Pryor, Gilchrist, Miles, Middleton STs (3) Folk, Purdum, Edwards As I see it, based on last season and reports from TC, the only two players that may have a spot sewed up on the final 53 are Bohanon and Kellen Davis. I certainly could be wrong, as Bowles seems to like Bohanon, but imo he's a wasted roster spot, although they may keep him for insurance at RB and to help with blocking. They could keep Davis because of his blocking as well. The others that possibly might be under consideration for and deserve a spot on the roster are: Darryl Morris (CB) Dion Bailey (S) Ronald Martin (S) Dakota Dozier (OG/C) Julian Howsare (FB/LB) Taiwan Jones (LB) Josh Martin (LB) Trevor Reilly (LB) Romar Morris (RB) Claude Pelon (DE) Lawrence Thomas (DE) Julian Stanford (LB) Zach Sudfeld (TE) Kenbrell Thompkins (WR) Of those, a strong case could be made for Thompkins over Ross or one of the rookies, and maybe/probably Darryl Morris over McDougle. Reilly was good on STs but has been pretty invisible in preseason and TC. He's way down the depth chart. Dion Bailey has been hurt most of TC. Ronald Martin has missed some time as well, but they may like him over Middleton. Stanford has had a good TC and preseason and I think Josh Martin has as well, but I can't see them making the team over any of those I have picked. Dozier might be on the team rather than Wesley Johnson, but I think Johnson has had a better camp. Thoughts? Do you think any of those players I mentioned above (or didn't mention) are better prospects than J. Marshall, Peake and R. Anderson?
I don't think the odds are good for Smith being grabbed by another team if he's cut; Petty and Hackenberg would be grabbed in the first twenty minutes. Smith could still be available to be brought back from his couch if the Jets world fell apart. That would leave an extra spot fo one of the receivers.
Could be they keep 4 QB's until Devin Smith returns from the PUP depending on overall injury situation.
I see Lawrence Thomas making the final roster although TB's remarks that the final 53 wouldn't necessarily consist of the team's best 53 players had me concerned....
Other than keeping the Four, that sounds like the best option actually if it came down to a transaction with the QB's and any gamble being taken
