    lol

Because disagreeing with you equals "nonsense" that isn't well thought out or pragmatic.

    OK brah

I never took a vacation if that's what you think. I did get a banging ass new phone. I've stated my position over and over again.

Geno is your number 2. He practices with both the ones and twos. Petty barely gets second team reps. Why would a team built to win now risk their season on an unproven 4th round qb? Especially one who had no experience reading a defense in college? Not only that, the coaching staff has said that Smith is your 2. It's going to stay that way. Geno may not be a great starter, but he's one of the best back ups in the NFL. Petty hasn't passed him. He's never played against 1st team defenses and very little against second team. Practice reps tell you all you need to know. This team is running 4 qbs. Hack is going on or practice squad. Which maybe why they won't let him play, so nobody sees him and gets any ideas. Just let everyone think he's bad.

If Fitzpatrick gets hurt, Genos in. Just like no matter how bad Fitzpatrick is, and i suspect he'll be awful, Geno will NEVER come in. The only thing changing a depth chart is injury. The track record from last season and this off season says exactly that.

No, but your rationale on many topics is usually less thought out than most. So when Geno enters the season as the number 2 qb, ill be waiting for you to admit that i was right all along.

To be fair, if Geno does not enter the season as #2, or not on the team, will you admit you were wrong?

Fair enough. IMO, the only way this will happen is if Petty gets injured. Will see.

    Edit
Or if Geno lights up the world against Giants 3rd, maybe.

You disagreeing with my thoughts doesn't make them any less thought out. I've explained why I think Petty will be the #2.

If I was wrong I'll admit it. Funny how you disappeared and had nothing to say after last weeks PS game and Bowles walking around the question of who was #2 this week. I figure you'll do the same if Geno is cut or traded.

As much as i hate Theisman, he was right about some of Petty and his throws. He made some great ones and missed some easy ones. Its just we pick Geno apart more, so we tend to ignore Petty and his mistakes. This isnt a referendum on how bad i think Petty is, i dont, i think hes young. Its more on he idea that i see a coach an a GM trying to keep their jobs also. Does that make more than than sense? I do think Geno is light years ahead of Petty. I won't back down from that. That being said, coaches go with the vets. I mean look they held out for Fitzpatrick. They want the safer bet.

missed the humor - having a shitty week at work

I do expect you to credit everyone else with a more well thought out and pragmatic approach if Geno is cut or traded though.

Geno could be traded...it would make sense to get value for a backup player who is on his last year

Geno will not be cut though...I will be shocked if this happens

You don't name a guy the backup QB for the 3rd PS Game (The warm up PS game for the regular season) and then cut the guy

Geno has outperformed Petty during the offseason and has more experience...That's all there is to it. Doesn't mean Petty can't be a starter for us in the future and I hope he is

Geno is a 4 year pro, 2 year starter in this league. His footwork is horrible and he makes poor decisions throwing the ball. Petty made a few poor decisions as well, but played better than Geno in both preseason games. Geno wont be on the team next year.

The second game no doubt, definitely not the first. I think everyone needs to take a step back with the Petty thing and remember it's preseason against worse talent and no gameplan

Rewatch the first game, like I did. In fact, I think stats put aside Petty did better in the first game than the second. And Geno was the same in both games with the exception of the Peake TD throw. In the first game Petty didn't make many poor decisions. Just a few poor throws, but thats expected.

Geno had first team reps all spring OTA's and was the projected starter until Fitz was signed the day of training camp. I would expect more from him.

We can keep arguing but all we have to go on is what the coaches have said and done not what we think. They said they are keeping four QB's as of now they have not done or said anything but that. In the end it is how they value the back-up and their plans this season. If they are expecting a back-up to come in mid game (Raiders last year) or short extended period and give us a chance to win Geno is the guy IMHO. If Fitz gets hurt for the season I think that can change depending on record and when in the season the injury will happen.

As of today if they are hedging their bets and will go into the season with four Qb's.

It would be an unconventional move. Others have speculated it could be a last chance for Geno to show he deserves the spot. The fact that Bowles wouldn't answer the #2 QB question directly early in the week, instead saying "we have a plan we're going to follow" has to make you raise your brow a bit. In the past he had been very clear about who was #2, then he wouldn't answer.

It could be as simple as Petty didn't do well enough during the week with some thing Bowles/Gailey wanted to see him prove. It could also be that the plan all along was to give Geno his one last shot to prove it this week. Although if that was the plan, he could have just continued with the same Geno is #2 line he had all along. Maybe it was his way of sending a message.

Who knows, it's all speculation, but that comment was said for a specific purpose. I wish I knew what it was.

He made poor decisions, as i expect. I'm not discouraged be petty one bit, but he didn't outplay Geno at all in the first game. He did in the second game. There is no doubt. But it's one preseason game against 3rd stringers. Come on, let's be real here.

When did they say they ARE going with 4 QB's? I know Bowles said they could do that.

I think that theyre gonna stash hack on the ps. Thats why you havent seen him and theyre probably leaking the information about him being bad, so nobody gets ideas.
