I'd rather get Petty snaps against the two's than put up a charade in hopes of getting half a Twinkie from someone.
Agreed. I find it almost as hard to believe we'd keep 4 or fake IR a developmental guy though. These developmental guys need snaps to develop.
No doubt. I want both guys with the team, on the practice field and in the QB room with Gailey. Maybe TB is giving Geno a last chance to make a statement. Who cares about some minor trade value. If he can't cut it, cut bait. Four QB's is looking like the alternative.
Teams give up draft picks for hope all the time. Desperate teams. The Colts traded a fucking first round pick for Trent Richardson (possibly the lowest value position in the league at this point) and the guy is out of football already. There are many stupid desperate people in the NFL.
It also means, given his contract situation, that Geno is auditioning for his next team as its highly doubtful he'll get another one from the Jets. He's being given another chance to showcase his talent and he'd better not fk it up. This could also be a showcase game for the Jets if they have an idea about moving Geno at some point. Petty hasn't played against or with top talent but he has utilized the talent he's given quite nicely. Enough to make everyone want to see how he does against a higher level of competition. Unfortunately with the regular season just weeks away, there's not enough time for that soooo, Geno gets his reps with the first teamers after Fitz's night is over and that is as it should be.
I don't think there's anyone here who thinks he'll be a jet next year. So you're right about that Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
Why? Would you be happier if our current FO didn't have a plan and just threw him out there to throw him out there? I LOVE the way our new FO and CS are going about things. They don't blab everything to the media, they have a plan, they are patient, they are capable and qualified to do their jobs. Sure, it's a very different experience for Jets fans, but I'm enjoying it. There's no false hope, no brash predictions, no controversy, only professionalism, true competition for roster spots, players being held accountable, and the team being prepared for the season in an intelligent, mature way.
It is still one too many interceptions. If we won zero games with our backup QB playing last year I do not see much point in keeping that backup QB this year when we invested two draft picks on potential replacements since drafting him.
OK, I gotts ask you, how do you know this?? How are you absolutely positive that this Sat game is not the make or break for Geno? How do you know that no matter how poorly Geno plays, he is guaranteed the backup spot? You make it sound like you know something nobody else does, and love acusing others of not having proof.... so what is your proof that Geno is guaranteed the spot?
I'm not even indulging your nonsense today. You're not worth my time. The writing is clearly on the wall in what the plan is. Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
You're really not very smart are you? I would think if Petty was gonna be the primary back up, hed eoulf be getting more reps in practice with the first and second team. Reno got 1st team reps...seems pretty clear to me. Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
So your position is that: Since Geno is playing with 2nds now, he is guaranteed to be a backup in the season. Understood. Now, do you want to qualify this with something? "Unless".... ? Also, does this position stand for Geno and Jets only, or all players in general? Meaning "since player X is playing with seconds, he is guaranteed a backup position"?
Like i said I'm not indulging your stupidity today. Not in the mood and heaven forbid I gotta hurt your feelings again. So you go cry to someone. If you cant get it, that's not my problem. Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
It seems some fans need that extra nonsense. Forget the pragmatic thought out approach. Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
Don't call me derogatory names and you won't need to worry about vacations. I'm truly honestly trying to understand your position, making an effort to see your point of view. I'm not planning to critique or ridicule it. This is really your chance to show off your football smarts with impunity. And you can do it in short sentences. Did I summarize you position correctly?
