for about the last 7 months i have tried to avoid the jets forum, and i have just stuck to the b.s. section. the last few weeks i have seen some good discussion going on. it is nice to be able to stomach the part of the site that i originally joined for back in the day.
Here here! I would love to take credit for the dumbing down of things here so I will. I am now taking the credit.
Someone pass me an e-tissue. That was touching Abyz good post  Its always hard to sift through this cesspool of a forum, but sometimes you can find the perfect gem. Key word is sometimes.
Good post. This place goes through so many ups and downs throughout season (in the quality in posting) but if you know what/who to look for you can avoid the bs and find the quality threads and posts.
Nice post, Abyz. I think a part of the improvement is that for a number of years so many posts were devoted to pros and cons of Herm, Chad, Mangini, Woody, the West Side Stadium, etc.... Whichever side you took in those debates, at the time and certainly in hindsight they were repetitive, depressing, and didn't directly concern the game of football as played by the New York Jets. They were real debates, though, and I participated in them, too. They were like driving down the highway and seeing a BMW upside down. You have to look. But aside from Sanchez's growing pains, people right now are pretty unified, and there is no raging debate concerning some off field subject. Much of the cred goes to Ryan, imo. He's just what we needed. I hope it keeps up, as I expect it will. We can talk about football, and have a lot to talk about, too. I think that's part of it.
TBJ's TC reports, the every-throw videos, Shonn Greene is inactive, even the crotchety Mr Electric; you can't get this shit anywhere else. Still though, we need more hot chicks, and I'm not thinking of Kelly.
Yeah...I've been around for a while...and while I usually don't post anything very long anymore, I have also noticed an increased quality in the posts.
That was a great post. While I am new and can say I did not communicate with Green Guy, he must have been a really good guy by the way you folks are speaking about him. I thought I new football, until I started reading some of the posts on this site. There are some of you here that are very knowledgable and maintain the Football Intellegence Quotient of the site. I thank you posters for your insight, I learn alot here most of the time. RIP Green Guy Know that you are missed.
Here's to Green Guy! We had some excellent discussions, Michael knew his football, he was a well respected poster here for years...
This is true, and right now we have a brand new head coach AND QB, so everyone is kind of on the same page. In the past the new guy would get a pass and the blame would shift to the next in line. For example, when I joined in 2005 Chad and Curtis got hurt right away, then everything suddenly was Herm's fault. Herm bolted and then everything was Chad's fault. They made the Favre/Chad move then everything was Mangini's fault. Right now, with new guys in each high profile/blame spot, there isn't a long history of games to argue over whose fault it was and why this guy or that guy should be the next to go. It will probably happen again when Sanchez or Rex has a few more bad games and everyone jumps off the bandwagon and turns on them.
This is the best Jets Fan Message Board... Period. Its beyond true. There are so many intelligent people on here that I have learned from over these short 2 1/2 years. Yes, I'll be the first to attack emotional stupidity after a loss, but when a thread is created and there are paragraphs of insightful speculation or analysis its fantastic. In my life I'm counted on for telling my Jets friends what to expect and where this team is at week to week because my opinion is valued. I can tell you that it wouldn't be as important if I didn't come here. I owe it to the fans who have been around for decades and those who know this game better than I for increasing my football IQ. Thanks guys. Thank You Petrozza. RIP Green Guy
Nice post. I do enjoy these boards a lot! I have loved the Jets since Boomer Esiason took over QBing. It's been a difficult journey but I finally think all the pieces are in place and I think most of the posters here see the same thing. So hopefully people will (and I think they do) realize this is a real team to build on and while we may not make anything happen this year I think we have the right people in place who care about football and the team who can make good decisions and keep this team competitive for years to come. Go Jets!
So right 'Byz. This board was major Xs and Os and the foremost reason I didn't post for a long time, and instead lurked. What I thought were a fierce fiery bunch were actually friendly and informed. Miss the Green Guy though.
I've noticed the same thing abyz. I registered for these forums back in 2004, 6 days after 13th birthday. I'm 18 years old now, and as I have grown, so have these forums. I always thought of myself as a decent poster, even back when I first registered. Looking for a Jets forum, Google lead me to TGG, and I haven't looked elsewhere for a Jets forum since. Long live TGG, the first real forum I ever registered for. And long live GG, this season is for you!
Welp: as A Die-hard Jets fan since 1969, I was on the ahhhh "Other" board and came away pissed at the stupidity over there. Have been here for the past year, and VERY much like the more upbeat talk, and good football knowledge. Now I just have to get off my lazy arse and come up with a worth avatar. Thanks for having me, its good time in jets land!
