So will Rex be the first head coach to hold a press conference to announce the sacking of his gm,oc,qb coach,ol coach and then adding that his dc is also gone?
tannenbaum has been the jets gm since 2006. its a good thing we didnt fire him 2 years ago when you say we should have, we would probably have righted the ship by now.
Actually, when the window that he engineered collapsed was the time to fire him. That would have been after last season. The Colts fired Bill Polian a year after they went 10-6 and 2 years after they lost the Super Bowl. Yes, they went 2-14 his last season but nobody expected much different of them with Peyton Manning hurt. The reason they fired him was not the 2-14. The reason they fired him was that the window for a championship run that he created had closed. 2011 the same thing happened with Tannenbaum. If the Jets fire him then they never chase Peyton Manning and they never give Sanchez the extension. Owning an NFL team is one of the hardest things to do right because even when you're right you have to do things that just seem wrong. Polian out on his ass after making the Colts one of the best teams in the NFL over a decade. Tannenbaum should have been out on his ass after 2 straight AFC championship game losses and a slump season.
Can we stop merging all the threads? I don't want to dig up 24 pages just to see when n where the latest update came from.
Which means they should finally get rid of Bradway. Why they kept him in the first place is beyond me?
Mr.T rolled the dice and sometimes it worked most times it didn't, But thats what you do when you don't know enough about TALENT and FOOTBALL, He is a Lawyer not a football guy,It's the same kind of thing when a great OC makes a bad head coach but he is still a great as a OC, Mr.T belongs in the cap department and handling the teams lawsuits
With how nailed home this issue has become in the public NY sports discourse, I don't understand how he was even kept on as long as he was. Too much of the talent evaluation responsibility has been on Rex these past few years. Hes not that type of coach! He's an in the trenches type of guy, he needs a good GM. He's not somebody thats gonna come in and Parcells-style beef up a teams roster, he's a motivator that beefs up his teams with attitude. While Rex deserves a large share of the blame for the roster make-up, ultimately its something that shouldnt be his responsibility.
He was kept on because he went on two playoff runs. You don't fire a guy after that. Last year the discussion could have been made and the argument could be made we kept Tanny one year too much, but Schotty was also an ongoing problem.
Keeping Tannenbaum in any capacity in the organization will be a cancer that will eat away at the Jets.
Funny how this is the same fanbase that loved the guy 2 years ago. Now he is apparently the worst GM in the league.
From Twitter Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter Jets announced they fired GM Mike Tannenbaun and are keeping HC Rex Ryan. It is also tweeted that RR will return
