Woody needs to take his time and not fuck this decision up. He needs to bring in a proven NFL Architect to develop this franchise and bring some semblance of respect back to the NY Jets brand. This decision will affect this team going forward for the foreseeable future. Frankly, its time for the circus to Get The Fuck Out of Town. It's old, it's stale, and it ain't funny anymore.
Mike Tannenbaum. Since the story originally hit & every publication to present day he has taken credit for originally having the idea. Now perhaps Woody encouraged it after hearing Tannenbaum's pitch..but everything points to Tannenbaum. It was a massive miscalculation, a case of outsmarting himself & it will end up costing him his job
Mr. T has lied to more Jet players than I care to remember. His credibility is non-existant. Woody brought Tebow in to sell PSL's, and jerseys. I actually feel bad for Tebow, he was lied to from the start.

The THREE bozo's. Tannenbaum, Rex, and Woody. One person does not make these kinds of important decisions. Just like with Tebow. You don't bring in Tim Tebow unless all three bozo's are on board. Granted they might have different reasons for wanting him, but nonetheless, all three wanted him.
It isn't so much the point that he had lesser options. At some point, everyone except Rex realized that at best Sanchez needed a breather and had to get his head together. That point was likely sometime last year, but if it wasn't then, it was DEFINITELY this year. Let him sit for a few games, work with the coaches and at some point admit that the guy's confidence is shot and he needs help. Instead, they rode him into the ground until he was completely useless. That's on Rex. The team comes before the player, but the Jets just don't understand that.
Sparano...buh bye. DLine looks pretty good..50pct of your defensive backfield is going to the pro bowl. You had a shitty run of injuries to hands players....that's not the HC or the GM. But Sparano has shown Zilch as an OC regardless.
But not better skill position players, unless you think Sanchez is better than Vinny Testaverde. Even Ray Lucas took a team that was (I think) 2-6 and got them to 8-8. You think Lucas was that good, or maybe he was adequate enough to have talent around him succeed? Having better o-line and better defensive backfield, two of many components of a team, does not make them a more-talented team. You can't even begin to compare the depth. As for the 2009 team, it was an 8-8 team that got lucky to get to 9-7 - thank you Indy. Yeah, I know, it is what it is, I'll take it. But it doesn't change anything. And the 2010 teams was 11-5 with like 4 last second, heroic, get-every-break-you-possibly-can wins. When the chips were down, they went up to New England and got smoked. Again we can thank Indy for their stupid clock management and an ill-advised timeout. The win against the Pats was legitimate, but we got smoked in Pittsburgh in the first half thanks to that 'great' defense everyone keeps talking about. The 1998 team was a team primed for a title, couple of bad plays in Denver blew that game and we all know what happened with Vinny-T in 1999. But Parcells and company put together a team that was competitive for years.
Well we were 4-12 in 05 and 07. No I'm not Kaboom and have no idea what point you are trying to make. It's obvious there is always more to discuss when things are going bad. It doesn't make a person a troll. When things are going good, there really isn't a whole lot to talk about unless you like chatting about Rex Ryan's foot fetish or who Mark Sanchez is dating.
