yep and brian under rex worked out so poorly that we made 2 title games in 3 years and never had a losing record.

I am not a typical fan, it could be 99.9999999999% of fans voting for change and if I felt we didn't need it I'd say so. I'm not a typical fan that changes their mind every time something good or bad happens. B/c a player has a great game it doesn't make them great, b/c a player has an awful game it doesn't make them awful.

The ones that blindly follow everything "experts" tell them to are the ones that have the problems. I can think for myself, I can evaluate w/ my own eyes. The majority of the fan wanted Brett Favre, how did that work out? I don't worry about the majority, I worry about what i think. you should tyr thinking for yourself too.

when we had key injuries in 2009(lost Jenkins & leon Washington) we survived, when we had key injuries in 2010(Jenkins, Cotch, Leonhard, Revis, etc...) we survived. This year we didn't survive but we had mssive key injuries on O where our main weapons most of the year were Kerley, Schilens, gates, Cumberland & reuland. No GM can build the type of depth needed to overcome those losses and we still were in the playoff race until 2 weeks ago.

Why? b/c those organizations don't panic or worry about what whiny fans have to say. It would have been easy to get rid of Coughlin after 2006 or after 2010, if they did they'd have 2 less SBs. It would have been easy to get rid of Cowher in the late 90s/eraly 00s. We fall into the trap of restarting every 4 years or so, we've had success but not long term. Good organizations have satbility, we have a GM and HC who have had tremendous success here. It is foolish to throw them out b/c of a bad year or 2. That's how fans think, that's not how an owner of an NFL tam should think. people want to know why we keep chasing a SB but never get there- that's why. In another 3-4 years we'll hear the same nonsense from our whiny fans. They'll hate the new HC/GM and want to start over again.

Favre was a Tebow esque type of splash to sell tickets, but he actually could play and was a positive move for the team...he just got hurt unfortunately.

The only positive Favre gave us was his choke led to us getting Rex and sanchez.

He was hurt. He was very good before getting injured...then he had the best season of his career the following season.

And lol at Sanchez being a positive. We drafted him 5th overall and he has about as much value as Jamarcus Russel right now. That's not a positive.

Polian is a good GM but do we forget he has only built 1 SB champ and that team beat rex Grossman for the title?

so yuo guys would want Bill parcells over Mike Tannenbaum? Check out what he built in Miami vs. what mike built in NY and let me know what you find.

Mike has continually screwed us over gicing us multiple SB chances- damn him! we need a Dick Steinberg/Bill parcells type to run our team!

You fail to mention letting the offensive line wither away as well as the defensive line and linebackers. Tannebaum waits until the last minute to bring in young players - that's why we are in this predicament now. You do realize we had to spend 2 first round picks on defensive ends? Now more than likely we'll have to spend our first 2 of 3 picks on offensive lineman. Tannebaum has to see this shit ahead of time, not wait until the last minute. How do you explain the Nnamdi pursuit and Tebow acquisitions? Tannebaum has no clue what he's doing, he needs to be removed - no more signing and negotiating contracts - get him out of here, he has no direction for this football team.

The foundation defensively is set. We just need a linebacker, however I don't trust him to make the right decisions offensively. We need a new OC and GM to see that through. Rex single-handily can keep the defense in contention. Once those last two pieces are put into place - we'll have direction and we'll have continuity.

He built his career on playing trhough pain and he got hurt in october then played his best(only only good) football in November before collapsing in december.

W/ many of the same players Favre had around him Mark helped us reach the AFC Championship Game TWICE. Brett led us out of the playoffs in a year w/ no Brady and the easiest sched in history.

wither away? he brought in the best C in football and one of the best LTs. You guys talk about depth but we lost Damien woody in 2010 and still made the title game.

No Gm can overcome the massive injuries we had this year. Some teams lose a ton of guys but we lost a ton of key guys.

The Packers seem to be able to handle it every year.

The biggest problem with the Jets personnel wise is Sanchez is beyond awful. Even mediocre QB play this season(aka just handing the ball off and not fumbling) would have had this team in playoff contention.

As far as Favre...he got hurt and couldnt throw anymore. The 2009 team would have been better off with a healthy Favre problem was he didnt want to be here.

If that 2009 team even had average QB play we win the division.

Just because they are still on the team doesn't mean you can't draft the heir apparent if he's available and on the board. Jets could of drafted Damien and Alan replacements far ahead of time. We also now have the issue with the RT (maybe) and RG / LG. That's 3 positions in need of an upgrade. They waited till the last minute. Mangold and Brick can only do so much, and we know Brick isn't that ground and pound type LT. Same thing happened with the defensive line.

Our window may still of been open if we didn't trade all those picks and we had depth on the offensive line. The Packers won because of their depth and Aaron Rodgers getting hot. If we had the depth though on the defensive line back in 2010, maybe the Jets do a better job stopping Mendenhall.

A GM cannot overcome mass amounts of injuries, but he can acquire depth to protect the team in an event injuries occur. I always wanted a GM with a vision in mind, and someone that prepares for the unexpected.

The Jet's roster on the offensive side is awful. Tannenbaum has done a LOUSY job year after year in terms of getting good players and in terms of contracts. The organization has made many short sighted decisions and has not built the team for the long haul like the Giants and Steelers do. Short-sighted bad decisions: Favre, Tebow, Holmes, getting rid of Brayon Edwards, getting rid of Crotchery, Leon Johnson, trying to sign that other corner that went to the Eagles and on and on. The Sanchez contract, the Holmes contract, Hunter contract, linebackers contracts all STINK.

If Woody doesn't fire Tannenbaum or even Rex then he might as well not do anything at all..

No respectable General Manager candidates outside of the organization is going to sign up as General Manager when the opportunity includes not picking your own Head Coach and having your predecessor still on the staff managing your cap. That's insane. Nobody would sign up for that.

Hiring a new General Manager and telling him he has to keep Rex will be a stretch to get good candidates, let alone telling him he has to have someone else manage the cap.

Not sure why Tannenbaum has this great reputation as a Cap guru anyway... Because he came to the organization as an accountant??
    - He hasn't gotten a viable long term contract done with our best player, Revis
    - He's set the organization back with destructive long term contracts to Pace, Scott, Sanchez, Holmes, etc..

The only thing he's good at is structuring contracts/delaying them to the future, so he can load up in the short term. But that's a destructive way to run an organization and any GM will tell you that will catch up to you.
-There's a reason why in 2010 the NYJ had overwealmingly more contract year players than any team in the NFL, Tannenbaum's "cap work". Well we are seeing now the ramifications of that. He should be held accountable.

Managing the Cap doesn't take some crazy special guru anyway, it's part of a GM's job. Any respectable GM can do it just as good, if not better than Tannenbaum and would likely feel disrespected by not being allowed those responsibilities...

at what point dod the Packers lose players the caliber of revis and Holmes in early October?

the beyond awful sanchez helped us win 4 playoff games so maybe he's not that bad?

maybe we win the div w/ better QB play but maybe we lose in the WC rd? all we know is we made the playoffs and won 2 road playoff games then held a lead in the 3rd qtr of the title game.

Favre never wanted to be here, he was busy helping packer opponents prepare for Gb than working on his new playbook, he was bad most of the year and killed us in december then a rookie QB helps basically the same team reach the title game a year later so either Favre isn't as good as you are making him out to be or Rex and sanchez weren't as bad.

They tried that, they drafted Slasuon and Ducasse. Slauson became a decent starter, Ducasse has been a disappointment.

GB has a top 3 QB in this game and a boatload of weapons around him. even w/ those weapons w/ some injuries this year Rodgers struggled earlier this year until they started getting healthy again.

again, in '09 and '10 we lost key guys and overcame those losses. In 2012 we couldn't but we had an amazing amount of injuries especially on O.

a healthy offense looks very different, assuming good health these will be our weapons in 2013:

    Holmes
    Edwards
    Hill
    Kerley
    Keller
    Cumberland

looks pretty good. Unfortunately we lost Holmes & keller(our top 2 weapons on pass game) for most of the season.

Packers have lost Jennings and Woodson for large portions of the season.

Packers are a better team than the Jets because they actually have a clue when it comes to personnel.

  14. This is hilarious to me. Jets drafted Matt Slauson & Vlad Ducasse. They traded for Caleb Shlauderoff. They took a shot on Jeff Otah. Those guys don't count?

Ducasse was drafted to eventually replace either Woody or Moore. Unfortunatelly Woody retired a year too early & as it turns out he's a better fit at RG than OT. The very argument you are making against the Jets is what they drafted Ducasse to be. But what have all the Tannenbaum bashers said? "Why draft a project in the 2nd round?" Well wouldn't ya know. As it stands Ducasse is poised to start at 1 of the 2 guard positions & is arguably the best run blocker on a team that wants to run the ball.

Is the line as good as it was in 09/10? No. But that line was all time good. To say the jets have ignored the position couldn't be more incorrect

Why are you giving Tannebaum a pass for the awful depth and awful contracts that will cripple this team?

We're paying Mark Sanchez Tom Brady money for Blaine Gabbert results. We're paying a lot of old linebackers too much money. Holmes is good, but not exactly number 1 receiver good...

I'm not asking the line to be better than 09/10. Certain positions I think should of been addressed much earlier. They drafted Vladmir to be a tackle, then they switched him back to guard, then back to tackle, etc you get the point. This all ties to the direction of the team. If you didn't have a specified role for a particular player, why draft the player in the first place? All they are doing is ruining his development, but making him learn up to 3 different offensive line positions before he can even feel comfortable in one role. Caleb Shlauderoff, Jeff Otah were all panic moves, and surely Caleb has brought several contributions to this team.

These players, they have no roles on the team. Slauson at best is better "off the bench". More than likely the same will happen with Vladimir. Instead of trading 4th rounders, 5th rounders for players like Tebow, they could of addressed the offensive line position by drafting someone in the 4th round.

A good GM knows the players he's going to draft, how they get develop and their role on their team. Vladmir / Slauson at this point look to be plug in players. I doubt they start next season, unless Vlad finds a brain from the Wizard of Oz. A good GM doesn't waste his time trying to get players like Nnamdi or Tebow either.

  19. So you don't view a linemen prospect having some flexibility/versatility as a plus?I can find about 32 NFL Gms that would disagree w/ you about that.Teams like it when O-linemen have the flexibility to play different positions. It gives the team & player options moving forward. So it took a year or so for them to realize that Ducasse is a better fit at RG. No harm. No fowl.Sometimes it takes awhile for players to fall into place. Doesn't take away the strides he's made in his development & the fact that he is a pro bowl level run blocker. Austin howard has filled in nicely at RT & again..Ducasse is poised to take Moore or Slauson's place on the line.

As for Slauson..how do you know he's better off the bench? Other than his rookie year when he took like 2 snaps for Mangold in a blow out win against TB..When has he ever been in a 6th man OL type role? He's been a solid LG since year 2 on. Pretty damn good for a 5th round pick if you ask me.

Don't feed the troll. Anyone citing Mark Sanchez as a "positive" is doing so solely to stir the pot.
