Come on now.....That politician whos district is southern Manhattan (forget his name) voted the proposal down. It all came down to his vote and since the stadium didnt benefit his district he voted no. I want to know why he wasnt paid off...that is the real question here!

Sheldon Silver. I think his daughter just got a job at MSG, it was in the Post today. So it must be true.

think you're extremely off based with this assertion that NY is not a good sports town.....although to say the fans weren't completely behind it wouldn't be inaccurate.

the NY citizens didn't screw this proposal over, it was politics as usual along with Cablevision meddling in it. The fact that the core Jets fans were sort of split 50/50 over whether or not they wanted the stadium in Manahattan didn't help the cause either......there were far too many people worried about tailgating, and the spoiled Jersey folk didn't want to deal with crossing over into Manahattan for games....you know who you are

Others have pointed this out already, but someone (Silver and or Bruno) didn't get the bribe they were looking for to get a yes vote, that's what it really came down to in the end......

so what do we get, anoher proposed shared stadium....that still isn't official I guess

Honestly, I have no idea how this stadium situtation will work out. As of 2000, the Mets and Yankees should of had new stadiums by now, devils in newark and the nets in Brooklyn. The only sure thing is the Devils in Newark and preliminary agreements for the Mets/Yanks.

Yes, the JETS should have their own stadium in NYC, Queens or LI. With NYC out of the question the JETS should definetly look into Queens and LI. This is not the 1970s where most/all JET fans lived on Queens or LI.... even if built there people from NJ will come.

I believe Woody wants NJ because he can market to the broad area. By playing at the Meadowlands he believes the JETS can market better to areas such as Rockland, Orange County in NY and areas such as Monmouth and Morris County in NJ. If he built in Queens/LI Woody might possibly lose these markets especially in Central/Southern Jersey.

No offense to people from LI or Islander fans.... but I don't think Woody wants to market the JETS gas the Isles of the NFL

If that's true, then there is no point in voting or having faith in the democratic process, as the idea is they're politically accountable to us. If they're just going to do whatever they want, we should just get rid of the legislature completely and give the judicial branch more power.

In theory you're right, but it doesn't work that way. It's just like little kids, the ones in charge of making the laws set themselves up to beneift and have the most power. Two guys cost the city years and years of future income for their own personal agendas, I hope they are happy for themselves.

As soon as I heard there would be no room for cheerleaders I stopped caring about the new stadium and cancelled my wait list.

Thats how the "official" story goes. Coincidently, he voted to approve a new Madison Square Garden be built recently. I'll try to find the link.
