I'm surprised no one has floated Frank Reich. He got a RAW deal in Carolina. Tepper is quickly climbing the ladder of shitty owners and may soon eclipse Woody before too long. Frank would be looking to PROVE something, if he's even looking. Nothing like getting paid another 3 years for doing nothing. Just throwing mud against the wall to see what sticks. Of course, our current inept regime is going nowhere. <sigh>
No way Woody hires a guy with prior HC experience. He got burned with Gase and that pretty much shuts the door.
We’ve had multiple regimes either turn around our D or revamp it in principle (3-4 to 4-3, etc..) easily within a year or two tops. We have literally shown the entire NFL that fielding a top 10 D does not take much intelligence or work. I am sooooo fucking tired of it. I honest to God don’t want a good defense anymore. I want every heavy resource going into our offense. I want a HC who is offensive minded. I want a DC that generates turnovers via schemes. I don’t want the leading D in yards allowed. I don’t want the leading D in points allowed. I want a D that creates turnovers. With an O that scores points at will and a D that can get us the ball one more time than our opponent we’d immediately be contenders, and we’d at least be entertaining during the rebuild. Defensive football philosophies suck balls. They rarely ever generate a winner and it makes for some of the most unwatchable football imaginable.
You can’t go back to the recently fired coaches well again. Gase, Hackett and they’re going to do it again?!
Let me guess. Yet another promising new coach will come in and preach the same scripted bullshit about changing the culture. Everybody will buy in, and yet again, end up getting bamboozled and fleeced. Amazing what you can get away from a business standpoint when dealing with a neurotic and desperate fan base.
Yep. You and I, and a very few others were clamoring for McCarthy at the time, but were drowned out by "those who know better".
To me, this is on JD. He misjudged the current state of NFL, where finding a great play caller on offense is at premium. This is where Miami got it right. Basically they fired a relatively successful defensive HC, who achieved better results than Saleh here, in order to also bring in 49ers coach, but on the offensive side, who is calling the plays.
I wanted him. He had a track record. Some of the idiots on here wanted Matt Rhule. We make the wrong decision everytime.
Not only was he available, he interviewed and left the building without a deal to the dismay of many.
Nah, LaFleur was way overrated. He had to rely on studs like Joe Flacco, Mike White, and Josh Johnson to make his offense look competent.
