(b) You have to work hard to instill discipline in your players. Rex won't bench people for taking too many penalties and he doesn't give the hard line take on them during his public utterances either. How exactly is going to instill discipline on penalties without actually doing anything to penalize the players who get too many of them?
Schedule makers screwed us, we get the Bills before their bye and the Pats get them after. On the other hand, Rex will have two weeks to prepare for the Belichick Bowl Round II. Maybe that's good for us.
That gives Rex two games to lose his mind over. His emotional tactics will fall flat either before (payback) or after (Belichek). That's the achilles heel of the team that uses emotion as a motivator.

Rex is a like a car wreck, painful to watch but you just can't look away. I love watching his career spiral down the toilet .
I have a few friends who are Bills fans and were all buying into it this season, one guy legitimately believed they had a good shot at the Super Bowl. Now, not so much.
What has interested me most about them so far, is that by almost every objective metric, their defense is not as good as it was last year. There have been a lot of whispers on this board over the years that Rex's status as a defensive guru is somewhat unwarranted. I always defended Rex from that charge. I''ll be curious to see how that defense performs as the season progresses . . .
Like many people I've always felt that Rex was a very good defensive coordinator but not really built to be a head coach. Considering his defence has declined that definitely calls his abilities into question. Maybe because he is trying to pay more attention to the offence his defence is taking a hit as a result, hard to say.
