Rex Ryan is a great defensive coach. He's one of the best, maybe the best, in the NFL now at getting full value out of his personnel. The problem is that his job description is head coach not defensive coordinator and he's failing in his responsibility to create value on offense also. Normally the way a defensive head coach creates value on offense is to hire an offensive coordinator that will get the most value out of the personnel the team has. In rare cases a defensive head coach will actually become a quasi-offensive coordinator himself (see Belichik, Bill and Parcells, Bill) and take control of that side of the ball when his offensive staff is being truly offensive in the results it puts up.
The guy who took us to back to back AFCCG is a poor coach? I can think of about 25 teams who would kill to have Rex as their guy.
This is fucking retarded. Rex has brought brought more success than any coach in Jets history in 2 years than any has in the past 40.
That's not Eric Smith...it's Jets beat writer Manish Mehta. You don't know English AND you don't even know what our starting safety looks like?
None of those three signings would have helped us protect our qb or rush the opposing qb. Just like in 2007, Tannenbaum horribly misjudged our OL situation.
