The best part of the season for Jets fans starts now and that is the offseason. There's hope, promise, positive vibes, dreams of what could be. Let's start dreaming Jets fans!
Yes, yes indeed it is... I'm dreaming of a deal between Woody Johnson and Steve Cohen where Woody either sells the team outright or goes into a partnership with Cohen, which is followed by the announcement about the Jets opting out of the lease for the gray toilet bowl known as Met Life Stadium, and the construction of an open air/retractable roof stadium adjacent to Citi Field for the Jets to play at by the 2028-2030 timeframe. Of course, the State of New York probably would not acquiesce to such a deal unless the Jets (despite the Florham Park facility being a palace) moved their players and practice facility (but most importantly, all that taxable income) back to NY State. So, my second part of the deal would be for a new purpose-built practice facility built at Mitchel Field/Nassau Community College/Nassau Coliseum area, a short walk from where they practiced at Hofstra. Now for the darkest, flip-side of this dreamy vision... Woody puts the team up for sale. The NFL wants to expand its market to Europe with a team based there. The Jets are sold for a record amount of money to investors who move the team to London. The London Jets become a perennial playoff team and win three consecutive Super Bowls, led by General Manager Chad Pennington and Head Coach Steve Belichick.
What about preseason, when that once in a lifetime generational QB we spawn, when they're lighting it up against 4th spring and camp fodder players, can't wait to see who it will be this year
Of course this is the "real" season for Jets fans. We come in last every NFL regular season, but we "win" the offseason every year.
For all of the Steve Cohen hype, he’s building short term winners and handing out huge contracts to older players. Douglas would be eviscerated if he started doing this. The off season is indeed fun though. The NFL playoffs is lame anyways.
The worst part for the Jets fans is like 3 games into a new season when all the optimism is gone and we realize this team sucks again.
