I think people grossly over-rate the impact of an owner, especially one that appears to be as fairly hands-off as Woody. And the people that want Woody to sell, you do realize that if he sells, the dude that most likely buys the team is Dolan, right?
Knicks most likely wont be to good this year but next year and on they should be and PHil will deserve all the credit
haven't read this thread but people need to see that documentary that casey Johnson did for HBO years ago and woody had a cameo in, it was quite clear that woody is a junky from seeing him in that. most likely a pill head. I've mentioned this before in threads and people called me all sorts of names and whatnot.....but it was as clear as day.....pill head, not moron. now call me names, just like people did in another thread while in the preseason I predicted this team would start the season 1-7.......
Or still keeping one of the prior GM as the team's director of college scouting. Who does that? When you are fired, GET OUT!!!
I wouldn't say that Woody doesn't love the Jets. It's just that he also wants respect as a businessmen who went to an Ivy League School. He went to University of Arizona at Bongwater. He's not a moron. He's fucking incompetent!
why do I need to look anything up? you clearly have people in mind. who were these better candidates and what are they doing now? don't run and hide, answer the question.
Mark Cuban please invite Woody Johnson to the SHARK TANK and make him an offer he can't refuse, PLEASE!
I'm not running and hiding. I don't remember all the names, but then I don't need to, nor do I have any need to look them up. I remember very well reading about them at the time and knowing that there were 3-4 candidates I really liked and would have been happy with. I'm quite satisfied with that. I don't need to know names. Anyone who paid attention during the time Idzik was hired, should know who the candidates were, who was interviewed, the names that were speculated in the media, and who declined interviews. I KNOW there were more highly-rated candidates, who had a lot more experience in personnel and weren't administrators or cap gurus. If you want to know who they were, then you need to get off your duff and look it up yourself and not be so lazy. But maybe you are one of those who got your pseudo degree from UNC and don't know how to.
So a subjective judgment call is means to suggest the guy "doesn't wanna win" & is "incompetent"? I can understand not agreeing w/ every decision he makes but people act like the Jets are owned by Skeletor. While we're on the topic could someone explain to me how the team's owner having alot of money is somehow a BAD thing & breeds so much contempt? I mean..many of you are Met fans right? I hear many of you bitch about payroll & lack of resources all the time...what am I missing? Please explain.
/thread The facts are right here. I despise Woody because of the PSL situation, but he has not put a bad product on the field.
IMO, going against common wisdom and forcing a new GM to retain the current HC isn't just a "subjective judgment call," but rather a moronic, idiotic way to do things. I think it cost the Jets big time. "Skeletor" LOL thanks for the laugh. Good one! I don't think the team's owner having a lot of money is a bad thing and isn't what breeds my contempt for Woody. I had great hopes for the Jets under Woody. He immediately won my favor by stating that he was going to build the Jets their own stadium. Then he threw it away by not doing his homework and getting the necessary approvals on the West Side Stadium and had no viable backup plan. He compounded his incompetent actions by then going in with the hated Giants on a stadium. Still, he was not only willing to spend a lot of money, but did on players and the facility and stadium. He compromised that by getting cheap on coach salaries, which I believe cost the Jets with a coach or two. Then he hire Tannenbaum as GM and allowed him to remain in place for far too long. He hired yet another businessman as team President. The coup de grace was when he finally got rid of Tannenbaum, showed some intelligence by using a search firm rather than using his normal stupid methods of making hires, but then limited the search and cost the team by making it known that the new GM had to keep Rex as HC. That caused 2-3 of the best candidates to withdraw their names according to the reports I read at the time, and then he picked Idzik, the candidate with the least experience in personnel. IMO Idzik would have made a better team President, then let him hire the GM, and let the new GM make the call on the HC.
