    2/3 sound good.

    - I agree we don't need a top RB. I like Houston/Washington.
    - We should go for an offesnive line upgrade somewhere.
    - Chad is fine... I won't even bother giving a greater explanation.

There are some incredible RB talents that will most likely declare in '08: seeing as we probably don't have a shot at either Peterson or Lynch, 08 might be the year we'll look at getting our feature back for the next decade or so.

Pennington took us to the playoffs in a year when we weren't supposed to win 6 games. Let alone 10.

He had no feature RB, hell no RB who could even carry it 20 times in a game. Leon is a GOOD not great 3rd down back. Thats all.

Yes we need a RT and OG. But our priority must be RB, NT, OLB in that order. If Clemens beats out Chad, great! That means he is ready.

But to blame the running game on Pennington who was comeback player of the year is just ridiculous. Especially considering Curtis led the league in rushing in 2004.

Curtis lead the league in rushing through sheer determination. Both on his part and Hermans.

Keep in mind that the Jets in 2004 had a great offensive line, especially for run blocking and much better than the one we have now. Part of that was Mawae who had rare talent to pull and block in the running game.

The conditions I mentioned in the original post held true then, but the Jets overcame them. Curtis rushed 371 times and LaMont rushed 93 times. Taking Leon out of the picture for a second, both Martin and Jordan were certainly better than Barlow and Houston.

So with a better run-blocking OL, better RBs and a determination to run continuously the Jets were able to get Martin to be successfull. But they had to overcome the same limitations. With a better QB that could stretch the field, the Jets running game could have been more effective.

I stand by my original post.
