I still say that last year screwed up their plan, whicih was to clean more players out after year one and bring in more of "their" guys. Then they went 10-6 and started to think: "Hmmm, maybe we can make this work....." But you make an excellent point. The Patriots "brilliant" plan only worked because of Brady. And we got no Brady.

What did Parcells do when he took over the Jets? The Jets made 4 unsuccessful runs at a SB with a team that was rebuilt with possibly the best overall staff put together since Walsh was on the 49ers. Parcells staff couldn't do it and Herm couldn't do it with Parcells team and 4 first round talented players along with Coles and Pennington who were brought in the year before Herm got here. The team Herm left had a QB with a shot arm no defensive stud, (Abe was allready determined not to resign), no HOF running back a desimated OL and DL and a swiss cheese secondary.

We have had two excellent drafts, we may have our QB of the future on the team, we have rebuilt the secondary we have cleared a ton of cap room and we still made a playoff appearance doing all that. The team has descipline and an excellent program for keeping the players in shape. The Jets have been in every game except the Pats game where the talent level is so far beyond anything this team has every fielded it's not even worth discussing. We are playing with a weak defensive line a very young OL and a QB who's arm is shot and still we are in every game and improving in every game.

The big complaint is not starting Clemens. We all want to see him play. So that's why Mangini doesn't have a plan, give me a break. I would love to see Clemens but I have faith that they have a plan to bring him along and I'm willing to see it through before I want the coach fired.

I never had any issue with upgading any position, assistant or HC of the Jets. Parcells is a better coach than Mangini is right now but he is a stop gap he will not bring the team any continuity. If we could get Bill Cowher to take a long term contract by all means upgrade. Until we are talking about that kind of coach, I love what this young HC has done in two years hear. I think people calling for his head are nuts at this point. The amount of retread loser experienced coaches in the NFL is well documented. Mangini has done a ton of right things for a young guy with very little experience. This is the first sign of adversity, sticking to his plan is not dumb, arrogant or a lack of experience it is belief. I prefer to see him stick to his guns and learn than be run out.

We all saw in Herm Edwards a guy who did some very good things but ultimately he made the same mistakes over and over year after year until the team had decayed out from under him. Mangini is rebuilding the team and learning on the job. I like the over all job he and Tanny are doing. I think it has plan written all over it. I haven't seen any posts that are addressing anything other than a team that isn't very good lossing games, pretty much a normal event in the world of sports.

Regardless of the validity of your post ? if I buy what your selling I would still have to point out that Mangini does not have the street credit of a Parcells or Herm for that matter to rule like a dictator and go 3 ? 13.

Further ? this team is regressing each week; I expect to see the defeated look on their faces as they run out of the tunnel this weekend if I do waste my time watching the garbage that Mandipshit is trying to sell as football.

Once again ? losing has become the expectation, the norm for the New York Jets and it?s disgusting. The only reason we haven?t seen a total revolt by these players is because allot of them can recognize that Chad is a huge part of the problem but refuse to call him out yet.

I think everybody would like to see that but I can't ever see him wanting to come to the Jets.

Parcells had zero streat cred when he took over a defeated Giants team ruled like a dictator and went through a 3 & 13 season. BB had zero street cred when he took over the Pats after being run out of Cleveland and going 5 &11, Chuck Knoll went 1 &13, 5 &9, and 6 & 8 his first 3 years with the Steelers maybe the greatest team of all time. Landry had 5 consecutive lossing season and a 6th going 7 & 7 before the Cowboys became a force, Walsh went 2 & 14 and 6 & 10 his first two seasons as an NFL coach. Mike Shanahan was fired by the Raiders before becoming a staple on a good Denver team.

Herm had no cred when he took over the Jets, he didn't make 1 decission regarding staff and he took over a loaded team built be one of the all time great staffs in NFL history. He never got the team past 10 wins, he never got the team to a serious status as an elite team. He used up all the talent and left the team in complete disaray with no QB, no DL, no OL, no HOF running back and a washed up secondary with 1 real good safety and a nice young back up in Coleman.

And regardless of the validity of my post I will continue to read a bunch of speculative reasons why Mangini is a dope with total disregard for the fact that the team isn't that good and has added several pieces and has a talented young QB being groomed to take over for a guy playing out the string because his arm is shot after two surgeries and being rushed back by the former HC.

    Save your breath Winston.

Then in the next breath they will tell you we dont have enough talent
on the roster (especially on D) to compete.

Then the same guys will point out
that McCraphands singlehandedly cost the game in Baltimore,
and that Chad singlehandedly lost in Buffalo, and against the Giants.
(Though Nugent REALLY helped out in Buffalo...)

Logic Dictates that if the first point is correct,
and the second, that the CS HAS PUT THE PLAYERS IN A POSITION
    TO SUCCEED....

Thats what they get paid to do.

The only real problem that can be put on the CS, was
not being ready to get that 1 yard on Sunday.

How is it, on Second and One, with the season on the line
you dont have a 3 TE package that includes Drob and Mosely
with Harris (or Bryan Thomas) as a FB.

If you put that much beef on the Oline, there is no way Philly
    can block it all.

I would have loved to see us run the ball until we punched it in but the fact is Jones got the chance on second down and didn't make it happen. We have been very successful getting first downs with the sneak behind the center. The Pats do it all the time and so do the Steelers. The fade on 4th down was the play I really second guess. I thought that was a low % play that effectively ended the game for us. That's a play that the OC should be shot for if he called it?
