In a passing league where the rule book is incredibly against defense, Todd Bowles and co. think its better to run the ball and have a strong defense that does well for half of the game, but then the second half is gassed and completely shits the bed. The most jets thing ever will be if they retain Bowles thinking he's going to make Darnold as great as he could be. The focus of ownership is to maximize the success under Darnold while they dont have to pay him a monster contract.
Playing complimentary defensive football is gonna raise eyebrows in today’s scoring league..can it work?Maybe. But i damn well know this:It absolutely wont work w bad clock management, self inflicted wounds in the form of penalties, miscommunications, misuse of challenges,Terrible field position & just an overall lack of discipline. If youre throwing the ball all over the yard, making big plays & are always a threat to comeback you can make up for dumb mistakes bc your putting up points. When you’re playing it close to the vest, stressing ball control, field position & stout defense you dont have the same margin for error.Time, down, distance & situational aspects have to be considered & mastered around every corner. Minimizing mistakes & prudent game management are essential. Right now the jets have a fatal formula for winning that is flawed in & of itself.
Pats, Steelers, Ravens, Bengals, Browns, Texans, Colts, Chiefs, Chargers, Raiders, Eagles, Cowboys, Redskins, Vikings, Packers, Bears, Lions, Panthers, Falcons, Saints, Rams, 49ers, Seahawks, and maybe the Bills and Cardinals. So most of the NFL if you're that lenient with the definition of franchise QB. Now do I think Sam will be better than most of the QBs on that list? Yes but unless your definition of franchise QB is "not horrible" it's too early to anoint Sam anything.
People Keep saying this yet when we had fitzmagic decker and Marshall hitting on all cyclinders he had no problems lletting fitz spray it all over the yard. Bowles likes to play a defense that forces teams into obvious passing downs so he can dial up blitzes. You don’t think he would like to be able to hang points on a team quickly and for e them to pass all game? Bowles has his flaws for sure but I think he gets a raw deal on his offensive philosophy because of the personnel he has had available to him.
Would Todd like to have an early lead? Is that the most stupid question ever asked on this forum? God please check yourself. Ego maniac... I’m going to go out on a limb and say yes, a head coach would like a lead, yes Todd Bowles would like a lead. Yes. Wow you’re amazing. The issue is two fold. He’s not capable of getting a lead, and he’s not capable of holding a lead. He’s just not there. He has terrible HC skills such as game planning, In-game adjustments, and clock management. Plus he’s not flexible and creative. Time for a REAL coach.
Saw Mac on SNY today. Sounds like they'll both be back next year... Kinda makes me happy when I come on here afterwards. Lol
Just because a HC used to be a DC, does NOT mean that coach believes in a 'philosophy of defense first' (whatever that means). This thread is a pile of hot garbage, and a fail from the get go.
it is going to be a brutally entertaining offseason around here. cant wait to see how many "quit" before posting again 24 hrs later
Somebody thinks they shouldn't run the ball with Sam. OMFGWTF. Anything to prove they know better. Some of the shit that gets declared on here is actually sickening, yet funny. lol Like you said, garbahge...
It's a win win brother. Win a few games and make a run and they crawl back into the cracks or go 6-10 and they rage all winter.
In 2014 he was assistant coach of the year on a team with the Head Coach of the year. Bruce Arians. Arians was probably the most aggressive downfield passing coach in the league. Rookie QB with no passing weapons and a bad OL. Lets pass down field on every play just because it's really cool and the league wants us to do it. We don't have the personal. We have a GM who does drafting and contracts. You know the personal stuff. Bowles isn't getting fired before Mac is getting fired and don't be shocked if a new GM brings Bowles back.
It is good to have a franchise quarterback. It is premature to hang that title on Sam Darnold. Surely the qualifications have not yet been met.
