One thing you have to remember okay? You have to remember that every one of these mediocre clubs bring their A-game to play the Jets. We're the odds-on favorite to represent the AFC in the Superbowl so everybody wants a piece of us. It's about being a championship team... I would explain it to you but as a Pats fan you wouldn't understand.

yep, Pats fan don't know what its like to have the best team in the NFL and to have a bulls-eye on their back. Oh wait, that's how its been for the entire decade.

and everyone doesn't want a piece of you till you actually are the top dog at the end, not just cause your coach says you are.

to say that the patriots have no chance is a little far fetched. how can a team that is 9-2 not have a chance to win a game at home on monday night? im all for the jets hype, and trust me im a believer. the last minute drive against the texans was a championship drive. sure we let the game get away from us, but our offense got on the field, and decided to win the game.

dont count out the jets just yet. rex has created a scrappy group and this season has made some great second half adjustments (notably against the pats).

new england on the other hand is a team that relies heavily on people playing above their abilities. and to their credit, they are playing pretty well. its kind of like how peyton manning is still able to pick teams apart despite the gross number of injuries this season (forget about earlier today... im talking about in the grand scheme of things). the only difference here, is that bellicheck is a great coach, so the receivers are prone to less mistakes and mis-communications.

i hope that the jets d can expose the pats for what they are (overachievers) and shut up the unruly pats fans.

I think that's all that the Patriots fans have been saying, that Belichick has been able to get the most of out of this young group. When they respond they play well and have won most of their game. When things unravel, you end up with a Cleveland game. Of course it helps to have a QB like Brady who can keep the offense running well.

I think both the Jets D and offense will present a big challenge to this team but they are definitely capable of beating the Jets. For all their accomplishments, the Jets have weaknesses as well.

The Patriots have scored at least 23 points in every game but two. Both of those games were against Ryan defenses and that's where there two L's came from. Coincidence? Just a fact I wanted to drop somewhere and I figured this was as good a place as any.

I don't know if anyone else pointed this out about the OP's argument, but the Pats are currently number one in points scored per game. The Jets are tenth. I don't see how THAT stat favors the Jets.

On the other hand the Jets are fourth in defense on points per game, while NE is 22nd. So that stat does favor the Jets. Heh.

This video represents the average Pats fan.

And now you see why they can't possibly beat the Jets. No 12th man in the stands...

    That's a good point. Nice pick-up.

I don't think the Week 2 game is going to help anyone game-plan against the current Patriots offense. So much has changed since then. It's almost a different offense entirely. That was the last game where Brady was still forcing stuff to Moss, even though it was clear that it wasn't going to work.

The Cleveland game will definitely give teams more useful stuff. But... not every team has a Peyton Hillis. I know LT and Greene are decent backs, but neither of them have Hillis' size or power.

If KC isn't "New England West," then Cleveland is. Between Mangini, Rob Ryan, and other former Belichick disciples, they've got a really strong contingent of ex-Patriots there. That always helps, both in terms of knowing the opponent and for motivation. I wonder if Rex will call his brother and ask for some info!

Line has opened up with pats as 3.5 favorites. I expect that to go up to 4 or 4.5 by kickoff, because the whole country will be on Brady's jock this week, and people don't seem to realize or care about how bad their defense is. I believe in our offense and I expect to score 30 on them.
I'll wait until Monday, take the points and cash in.

I read somewhere that Rex had helped Rob for Patriots week. I am sure they will be talking.

    statistical? The Razors Edge!

    Lies, damn lies and statists...
This time of year, the cream (Tom Brady) rises to the top.
After week 17 the Jets may have the best record for a Wildcard team in history!
    Now go get your snack!

As of yesterday, the Pats were the favorites to come out of the AFC per Pinnacle and a few other books I looked at. The Jets were right behind them though.

The problem is there's no cream in that defense ...
Last in the league is not where you want to be. There's no getting around that.

And your offense is about to be face three of the NFL's top defenses in points allowed ... NYJ #4 / Chicago #2 / GB #1.

We'll have this division wrapped up before Christmas.

See: Pats vs the Steelers and San Diego. As far as scoring on statistical defenses.
I just can't see the Jets winning in Foxboro. After that the Jets will be looking at wildcard at best.

Yes I'd have to agree with that. New England cannot win a defensive battle kind of game, they rely on scoring a whole bunch of points, and if you can limit their offense (like the Jets did in Week 2) they can't match you on the other side of the ball. So no, the Pats don't match up well against the Jets or the Bears or Green Bay. They could very well lose 2 of those 3 games or perhaps all of them. Having a lopsided team can only get you so far... It's like having an unbelievable defense with a horrible offense, ultimately it will catch up to you.
