I'd argue that Jenkins is almost a must re-sign. We lack anyone on the edge and theres no guarantee one shakes loose in free agency or falls to us in the draft. Jenkins is more of a Calvin Pace than a Khalil Mack, but he broke his career sack record from last year which many thought was a fluke. He keeps improving and could be a steady 6-10 sack guy for us for another 4 years. I wouldnt mind overspending a little to keep him.

We've put ourselves in must re-sign scenarios with both him and Anderson which means we'll likely have to overpay for both. Jenkins a little less because RA is intent on testing free agency. A good GM would've been more forward thinking on getting these guys re-signed last year but alas here we are. Thanks Mikey!
Jenkins is a must. Anderson wouldn't be as bad if we had a another decent WR outside Crowder. I wanted him back, and it really sucks. But I don't think he gets what he wants. If he does so be it. There are other targets we can go for, maybe not as good or with injury issues. I think we just need good receivers not great and I don't think Robbie is great anyway. There are also trade options out there, but we don't really want to lose draft capitol either. Needing 2 WR is bad... going to need to draft one high and hopefully get an FA. You're right though Mikey screwed us bad.
Daryl Roberts too. He really was forward thinking in extending guys. He just had no idea who to extend.
I think a major off-season priority is retaining Greg Williams. Obviously if a team comes calling to interview him for their HC position there's nothing that can be done. Adding $ to his deal may help keep him. I want Jenkins back. He's solid and I believe he's an ascending player who's best years are in front of him. RA, meh, I am personally not as big a fan of him. Anywhere close to the $12-$13 mil he's looking for I would let him walk. He's a decent #2, but his personality scares me what financial security would do to him off the field. Maybe he's grown up and would be ok, but who really knows...
1- I think Greg will be back. Teams nowadays are looking for the next young up and coming coach...and I don't think Gregg will take a lateral move to go to another program as their DC. 2- I think the Jets will re-sign Jenkins...he will never flash but you can rely on a solid 8 sacks and good at sealing off the edge. 3- Keep RA, he's been surprisingly reliable health wise and he's a solid #2 guy. Get him to play along another good WR, his production will fly off the charts..but keep him in the program so Darnold will have some sort of continuity.
The precedent for Jamal's contract is set. He still had a year left on his rookie deal like Adams, and Adams is the better player. Lock Jamal up now before the price gets even higher:
Here is my offseason plan based on what I see and hear. Is it all right no. You'll probably find mistakes but this is what I think could happen. 1. I think we look to sign some of our own free agents. I think we resign Beachum, Lewis, and Poole. Also Burgess too and he'll start because we'll cut Williamson. Jenkins I think is 50-50. He'll test the market but feel he will resign. I think Robby Anderson walks. 2. I think we will cut Winters, Williamson and a few other veterans to save money. 3. I think they'll look to trade Bell but realize they will not get much for him and he'll be back. 4. I think we'll be in on Scherff but be too much money. 5. I think we sign Conklin if we can't resign Beachum. 6. I wouldn't be surprised to see us sign Vaitai so we don't have to take a tackle in round 1. 7. I think we sign Andread Peat to be the other guard. 8. I think we kick the tires on free agent centers. Not sure we'll sign one. 9. I think we make a push for Matt Breida. Not sure with Bell and money if we can sign him. 10. The Jets will sign one of the free agent wr. I think Cooper is too much and AJ Green is old and doesn't fit us. Emmanuel Sanders if he wants to play for Gase again which I don't think will happen. Have a feeling he'll stay in San Fran. Maybe Perriman, Funches, or Robinson from the Chiefs. A 25-27 year old wr who can start and have something to prove but won't break the bank. 11. I think they'll be in on the DE, OLB. I don't think they'll pay alot but enough to get one at the right price. Judon Ravens, Fowler Rams, Dupree, Barrett, Ngouke, are the ones I think we'll be linked to. 12. I can see them overspending on one of the cbs. To me that'd be Jones of the Cowboys. If not him then they'll pay market for a cb or two. Bradberry, Dennard, Darby, or Roby maybe. Jones I like the others I'm not sold on but if they were our 1 they'd be better than what we had. 13. Like every offseason they'll resign some of our depth pieces like Hewitt and a few other depth pieces. 14. I think in the draft at 11 if one of these 5 fall we'll select them. OT Thomas, Wirfs or Willis and if they are gone then Jeudy or Lamb if one of them falls. With Tua declaring and a player like Simmons possibly getting into the top 10 I think one of the five will falls. I think it could be Wirfs, Willis or Lamb that could. Not sure if all five are gone what they might do. The rest of the draft will be more offensive linemen, a few wr, I think a rb and a cb will be added too. I wouldn't be surprised to see a trade back to get more picks as well. Either way let the offseason begin. I'm ready to see what we do.
I agree with you. Not sure that's a priority for Douglas. If it does happen it happens before free agency. If not maybe it'll happen after the draft and all. I agree. He needs to be a Jet for life but as I get older I don't think Jets fans get or keep good things. Somehow we'll mess it up and he'll play elsewhere.
I know you're not talking to me, but I can still shit on The New Dump and Woody the rube until I die, though, right . . . ? Ha, true enough. I never bought into the fire Gase now mantra and I'm not changing my mind. Not that I'm overly enamored of the guy, but it's way too knee-jerk for me. Give you an example. It was crazy town here when everybody was trying to run Herman Edwards out on a rail. Then when they all got what they wanted when he defected to KC, they frothed at the mouth about what a backstabbing turncoat scumbag he was. YOU GOT WHAT YOU WANTED, BUT YEP, STILL COMPLAINING. Give Jets fans what they want, they're still lining up outside the Better Business Bureau no matter what. Funny thing, that scrub Ryan TANNEHILL - RYAN FCKN TANNEHILL - is moving on in the POs and was part of the Cheats glorious take down at Cheatsette. A certain crazy-eyed someone who looks like a mental patient who is now on the Jets used to coach RYAN FCKN TANNEHILL. Coincidence? Just sayin'.
AAA! There are very few things that you need to do at the DMV that can't be done at AAA as part of your membership. I'll drive 45 minutes each way to a friendly AAA shop if I can avoid lines at the DMV. The line at AAA is you and maybe one other 5 minute transaction in front of you. The service is always with a smile and a "how can we help you today?" This is one of the 10 tips I want on my headstone to make the lives of the visitors who come to see me easier.
