lol ur comparing him to Justin Tuck??? do u see the way Tuck comes off the line and the way he sheds blockers? lets not compare him to Justin Tuck, who can play inside or outside on the D line... when Gholston gets blocked... hes out of the play... for good
Well, considering we were up by FORTY plus for a large portion of the game Sunday, it is a bad omen than Gholston couldn't get some garbage time action...
I mean realy, the CS nows how good he plays, I mean they do practice you know, its obvious that he either needs more development than we thought coming out of a different defensive scheme and into a new position.... or he just sucks and we fucked up by drafting him considering we had BT and were going after Pace... he cant even get garbage time.... WOW... ***note *** VG is a beast in madden
yo seriously, yes, as of right now, it appears as if we may have wasted a draft pick. however, eric mangini knows what the hell he's doing, and if he feels that it is necessary to have gholston observe the game instead of play it right now, then fuckin trust him. we're 6-3, tied for first in the division, and i don't really care about last year's draft right now. we're doing well. period.
He's doing great considering he's on a very shitty team. 4 sacks aint bad for a rookie last time i checked.
Look at this people, next year we get to see Gholston play because I'm 100% sure we won't cut him. We are paying him way too much. Someone else is going to get the boot on the jets so Gholston can start...So B Thomas or Kenyon Coleman looks like your time might be up very soon.
My point was we don't know yet. Justin Tuck after his first year still had not shown up yet, so maybe gholston will take time like Tuck did. Will he be the same as Justin Tuck probably not but he may develop like Tuck did.
is this seriously an issue?! pace and thomas are playing well, Gholston is learning a new defense at the next level, and most pass rushers take time to develop. look at woodley on the steelers, last year, nothing, this year he is a monster. look at pace! he was considered a bust then it started to slow down and things started to click. the people on this board are way too fast to jump the gun. the D is playing great and we are tied for first in the division, stop looking for things to complain about!
i didnt see much of the second half of the game but like that should have been a time for gholston to shine he didnt even register a tackle god damn...he has all the physical talent in the world he needs to put it togeather
Yeah they definitely should have played Gholston during the 4th quarter even if it was just to make sure Pace and Thomas did not get injured. I really haven't seen him play much at all though so its hard to judge if he's progressing or regressing, but I guess he must be improving at a really slow pace or he would get more time on the field.
Gholston was in throughout the course of the game more often than in the first few weeks. I saw him in pass coverage most of the time I noticed him.
Jets are 6-3 with a great pass rush and run stopping. He isnt needed. Let him develop behind the scenes. I see no issue with it. We bashed D'Brick for like two seasons and look where that has brought us. Sure i wasnt a fan of the pick, but i refuse to give up on it so soon.
I haven't given up on Gholston, but I don't hold out much hope he'll ever develop. I hated the pick then, and hate it now. DON'T DRAFT ATHLETES, DRAFT FOOTBALL PLAYERS!!! Matt Jones and Dewayne Robertson both shot up the draft boards at the combine, and both were busts. I see the same with Gholston: a good college player with excellent athletic skills who just can't play the pro game.
Justin Tuck was the 74th player taken in that draft he had 25 solo tackles in limited duty that year on a great DL. Gholston was the 6th pick and has 4 solo tackles through 9 games. Tuck played primarily inside his rookie year and still had more impact his rookie year than Gholston has on a D tailor made for a situational outside pass rusher. We don't need him right now but you would think a freak with his skills would be able to come off the edge with abandon against some of the crappy teams we have played put in third and long situations.
Agreed...remember Mario Williams. Gholston is learning a new position. His new mentor is Lawrence Taylor. Give him time to develop. Yeah, I know, it would have been nice for him to make an immediate impact when he was drafted, but that's not the case now.
While there is cause for worry, not enough time has elapsed yet. He may breakout this Thursday night with some signs that he will be decent; ya never know.
Mangini said it himself in the post game press conference that in the 3rd quarter he had the Arizona game on the mind and wanted to be sure that he put it away. Gholston doesn't appear to be ready yet. This is fine because the Jets have put him in a position where he can sit back and learn. The guy isn't a bust because he doesn't get garbage time action. You can't call him a bust until he gets on the field and as a full time starter and is awful.
I Havent Seen Any Agression From Him, He Seems Like A Softy But I Hope Im Wrong, I Reaaaaall Realy Do, But The Truth Is The Truth, Doesnt Mean It Will Be The Truth 2 Moro But It Is The Truth Today, He Sucks... Lol Remember Brian Bozworth... If Were Gonna Keep Pulling Names From A Hat To Compare Him To Just To Validate Our Points
