I think next year we are going to see Mangini run the same defenses at Cleveland and people will realize it was really his fault, not Sutton. Look at his resume, Sutton is a quality coach while Mangini is just someone who knows how to say "great idea boss!"

I just spit coffee all over the place.

Quality coach? Exactly what has he ever done that gave you that impression?

He has done well throughout his career except for the last two years, when he was taking orders from Mangini. No Jet fan complained about Sutton during the 6 years he was LB coach. He is a quality coach and next year you will see Cleveland run all the schemes that you blame Sutton for.

He may have been a decent LBer coach. He may not have. I don't think there are many on this site that have the knowledge to say how good of one he was.

His defenses never stacked up. He was a soft, non agressive coach. If he rolled over for mangini and did what ever he was told, he's a soft non agressive person and not one thats going to be running a quality defense any time soon. Sutton was shit. Pure and simple.

I would have a hard time coming up with one positive thing Sutton has done in his 3 years as DC. Could anybody else? At least Ted Cottrell called a great playoff game against the Colts that we won 41-0 (and he was a horrendous DC as well)!

I think you're out of your mind too... Sutton is a quality coach, maybe, but certainly not a quality DC. Even Mangini was trying to replace him with the other Ryan not too long ago. Not that I believe that Mangini is some kind of defensive genius... but I'm only too happy to see Sutton packing his bags. Hell, if he was "quality" wouldn't Rex be looking for a place on his staff for him? I would think so.

Bob Sutton is a [quality] coach, as in, Al Davis is a [quality] owner of a proud (Hah!) franchise.

Bob Sutton is one rung better than Paul Hackett. I wouldn't wish either of them on any team except the Pats, the Fins and the Islanders :p

Bob Sutton is a quality coach if you consider him for a Pop Warner team.

When he was the LB coach he was in the 4-3 alignment, not 3-4...

I'd love to know what makes Sutton a great 3-4 coach.

    please, enlighten me.

I can not, either. The job was clearly above his pay grade, like someone else i know.

I keep having a creepy thought of Bob stalking the jets, like no matter what, he will never go away. Always lurking..

i am so freaking happy that he's gone. I thought that after our free agency last year we would be elite in rushing the passer. Now i'd hit him with me car if i see him in the street.
